Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 27 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Tsuyoshi Tamatso!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 16 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Yoshiro Gomi!
The judges for this bout are James Glass, James Atkins and Phil Schofield.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Tamatso closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Tamatso lands in his opponent's guard.
Gomi controls Tamatso momentarily but Tamatso frees himself.
Tamatso stays in close to Gomi's body and controls the position.
Gomi is trying to control the position but Tamatso postures up.

Gomi is looking for a triangle but Tamatso pushes his legs off easily.
Tamatso trying to control but Gomi is working from the bottom.
Gomi looking for a sweep. Not yet Gomi, not yet.
Tamatso stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Gomi swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Gomi looking to control.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Gomi wants to sweep but no luck.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Gomi fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Gomi shoots in for a double leg but Tamatso sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Gomi doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Tamatso counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Tsuyoshi Tamatso has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Yoshiro Gomi.
Tamatso works a leg free and moves into half guard.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Gomi is trying to control but Tamatso passes into side control!
Tamatso advances to mount.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Gomi tries to lock up and control but Tamatso gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Gomi sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
Gomi is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Gomi holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.
Tamatso trying to control from half guard but Gomi is working away.

Tamatso is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Tamatso content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.

Gomi is not content to let Tamatso control the position.

Gomi looking for submissions from an awkward position here.

Tamatso is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Gomi sees it coming and defends easily.
Tamatso is looking to take a break and control but Gomi is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Gomi tries to get to full guard but Tamatso has control of the leg.

Tamatso is thwarting Gomi's attempts to control the position.
Gomi tries to get to full guard but Tamatso has control of the leg.
Gomi is trying to control but can't.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

Tamatso wants to work for an arm triangle but Gomi is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Gomi is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Tamatso stopping the sweep attempt from Gomi.
Tamatso pushing down on Gomi's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
Gomi trying to control but Tamatso postures up.
Gomi has found himself in a tricky position here. He's been working his transitions in training so let's see if he can work his way out of it.
Gomi is staying active underneath Tamatso, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Gomi is in trouble now - Tamatso has advanced to mount!

Gomi is squirming around, avoiding Tamatso's attempts to control the action.
Tamatso controlling the position easily from mount.
Gomi tries to hold on but Tamatso pushes him away.
Gomi is looking to get to half guard.
Gomi is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Gomi is in all sorts of trouble here.

Tamatso is working to isolate an arm here. It's a telegraphed submission attempt but he's gone for it anyway - and he's got it! Tamatso extends the arm and Gomi is forced to tap!
