A fine choice. Virne has chosen Jeff van Dyck - Soldier's Chant as his entrance music. Jarppi Virne has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Mario Betoli's chin.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Virne manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Betoli on his heels. He'll look to pass Betoli's guard now, I'm sure.

Betoli is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Virne wants to control from the top but Betoli keeps moving.
Betoli bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Virne's guard.
Betoli is stalling in the full guard.
Virne is trying to control the position from the bottom.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Betoli not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Virne is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Virne tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Betoli has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Betoli looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Betoli wants to pass the guard but Virne is defending well.

Virne is looking for a sweep. Betoli is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Betoli is trying to control the action in half guard but Virne is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
We're going to have a standup here because Mario Betoli wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

and Virne counters with a nice double leg into guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Betoli has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Virne can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Virne drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Virne jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Betoli looking to try and escape his hips here, looking for a submission. It looks like he's going for a triangle but Virne is defending well. Betoli quickly switches to an armbar and extends the arm! Virne has no choice but to tap, to a very quick submission! Wow, that was lightning fast! Betoli celebrates on the ropes, with the crowd.
