Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Igor Pietrov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Benny Quartz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Igor Pietrov has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Igor Pietrov seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sloppy strikes from Quartz. Those never looked like landing.
Quartz dives in and grabs Pietrov's left leg, looking for a takedown. Pietrov pushes down on Quartz's head and hops out.
Quartz tries for a takedown but Pietrov sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Quartz changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Pietrov looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Quartz throwing ground and pound but whilst doing so, he forgets to control position and Pietrov works his way back to half guard. Good composure under pressure.
Quartz working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Quartz looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

Quartz postures up in Pietrov's guard and throws a big left but Pietrov blocks it.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Benny Quartz.
Quartz will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Pietrov tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Pietrov has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Pietrov is breathing heavily.

Quartz wants to get back to his feet.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Pietrov is looking to take a break and control but Quartz is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Quartz is pushing Pietrov's head away, looking to escape. Pietrov manages to hold on to the position though.

No joy there for Quartz, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Quartz throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Pietrov's waist but Pietrov gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Quartz off to one side.
