Eaton kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Eminem - Berzerk. Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

The judges for this bout are Thiago Cunha, Leandro Rodrigues and Felipe Paraventi.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Eaton misses the jab.
Eaton scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
Eaton doesn't succeed with the takedown
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
Eaton's jab looks to have found its range, popping Cruz under the eye.
Eaton lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.

Cruz leaves Eaton with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Eaton swings and misses with a hook to the body.

and Cruz counters with a nice low kick that buckles Eaton's knee momentarily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ashton Eaton. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Eaton paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Eaton misses the jab.

Eaton throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Eaton rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Cruz counters with a shoot takedown. Eaton fights it but they end up in guard.
Cruz trying to control the position from guard on top but Eaton is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Cruz is sitting in close to Eaton's body. Eaton has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Cruz is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Cruz is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Eaton.
