Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Mark McGillivary (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pete Alexander (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Mark McGillivary!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Pete Alexander!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Yves DeLean and Robert Douchet.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Alexander looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for McGillivary!

Alexander tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Alexander has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Alexander tries to move into full mount but can't pass McGillivary's legs.
McGillivary gets back to half guard.

Alexander is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and McGillivary defends it well.
McGillivary is looking for a sweep. Alexander is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Alexander working over McGillivary with some ground and pound. McGillivary looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Alexander thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed McGillivary's head.
Alexander is looking to advance position but McGillivary won't allow it.
Alexander throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Alexander is taking a breather. McGillivary says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Alexander is looking to take a break and control but McGillivary is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
McGillivary tries to get to full guard but Alexander has control of the leg.
Alexander is looking to stall here but McGillivary recovers full guard.
McGillivary is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Alexander controls from within his opponent's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Alexander pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. McGillivary is keeping the position for now.
McGillivary is trying to keep Alexander in close.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Alexander gets a double leg takedown into McGillivary's guard.
Alexander is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Alexander is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! McGillivary is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! McGillivary has escaped and now he's on top!

McGillivary is working hard here to advance position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
McGillivary wants to control from the top but Alexander keeps moving.
Alexander is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Alexander wants to lay and pray for a moment but McGillivary keeps working.
Nice strikes from Alexander there.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Pete Alexander dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!



McGillivary gets caught flat footed, as Alexander shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
McGillivary is trying to control the position but Alexander postures up.
Alexander wants to control from the top but McGillivary keeps moving.
Alexander looking to sit in guard and control but McGillivary gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
McGillivary trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Alexander looking for a triangle here. McGillivary is fighting it but it looks tight! Alexander pulls the arm across and this one won't last much longer! Nope, McGillivary is tapping out - this one is all over!
