Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Adam Simpkins (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Frank Mir (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Frank Mir has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Adam Simpkins's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Adam Simpkins!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Frank Mir!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Cecil Peabody and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mir tries for a takedown but Simpkins sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Simpkins swings away with a body shot that misses
and Mir counters with a head kick.
Mir pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Simpkins throws a series of punches but Mir avoids them all with ease.
Simpkins connects with a single shot there.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Simpkins does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Mir dives in for a single leg takedown but Simpkins sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Mir is trying to force a seperation but Simpkins has the dominant position.
Simpkins lands a knee to the body.
Mir looks winded!
Simpkins unloads a knee to the mid-section. Mir lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh.

Simpkins tries to land a knee to the head but Mir blocks with his arms.
Simpkins gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Simpkins is trying to trip Mir. He has hold of a leg but Mir is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Simpkins persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
Simpkins throws a big right hand that misses.

Simpkins avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Simpkins stands and throws Mir's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Simpkins works to advance to full mount. Mir defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
Simpkins tries to control but Mir wriggling away.
Simpkins throws some wild stikes that Mir manages to avoid easily.

Simpkins working the ground and pound effectively.
Simpkins cracks Mir with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Simpkins looking to control but Mir is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Simpkins throwing strikes here but Mir is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.
Simpkins misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.

Simpkins jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Mir manages to avoid the submission attempt.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Simpkins in side control, throwing shots but Mir defends.
Mir tries to escape but Simpkins is in control.
Mir tries to buck Simpkins off but Simpkins is having none of it.
Simpkins tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.
Simpkins working the ground and pound but Mir is defending the strikes.

You can see the frustration on Mir's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Simpkins decides to stand back up. Simpkins steps back and let's Mir get back to his feet.

Simpkins misses with a wild combination.
Simpkins fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Mir looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Simpkins lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Mir backs up against the cage.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Simpkins cracks Mir with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.

Simpkins lands a big right hand that sends Mir crashing to the mat! Simpkins stays standing though and waves Mir back to his feet!


Mir is rocked!


It looks like Frank Mir has been cut.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Simpkins shoots in for a takedown. Oh, that's a huge slam! Mir is on queer street and Simpkins is pounding down on him with a barage of strikes. The ref is forced to step in and stop the fight. Great finish!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:08 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Slam). Adam Simpkins!
