Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dave Bates!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Bud Weiser!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Cecil Peabody and Chris Downing.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Weiser is trying hard to land a takedown here. Bates sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Weiser throws a sloppy head kick and Bates moves out of range easily.
Bates punishes Weiser's body with a nice straight punch.
Bates showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Weiser.
Bates's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Bates duly obliges.

Bates forces Weiser back against the cage and clinches.
Bates blocks an elbow strike.
Bates wants to get back to striking at distance but Weiser won't allow it.
Bates tries to stall but Weiser uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
Bates tries to score a body lock takedown but Weiser shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Weiser tries to work over Bates's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.

Weiser decides to pull guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Weiser has control of Bates's left arm, preventing Bates from doing any damage.

Weiser is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Bates is aware though and is defending well.

Weiser escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Bates gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Bates has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Weiser is proving hard to escape from.

Weiser is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Bates looking to sit in guard and control but Weiser gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Weiser trying to control the position from guard on top but Bates is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Weiser is looking to pass into half guard but Bates pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Bates is in guard.

Weiser not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Bates passes into half guard.
Bates wants to stand up but Weiser manages to regain full guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Weiser controls Bates momentarily but Bates frees himself.

Weiser pushes a forearm under Bates's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Bates is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!
