PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Carl Cade (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tat Taylor (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Taylor's choice of entrance music: Im on my Level. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 5 - 0, fighting out of London, Carl Cade!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tat Taylor!
The judges for this bout are Russell Pearce, Steve Montenegro and Alyssa Summers.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Taylor tries to clinch up but Cade circles away and keeps his distance.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Cade is trying to drag Taylor to the mat but Taylor just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Taylor is struggling to control the position.
Cade takes an elbow to the forehead.
Cade is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Taylor tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Cade's elbow.
Cade working aggressively here.
Taylor looking to throw knees to the head but Cade is blocking nicely.
Taylor pushes Cade back against the cage and unloads with a body punch.
Cade drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Both fighters working to control the clinch.

Cade wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Taylor has him pressed against the cage.
Taylor tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
Cade lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.
Cade avoids the elbow strike from Taylor, against the cage.
Cade is trying to drag Taylor to the mat but Taylor just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Tat Taylor seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Taylor has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Cade is landing a low percentage of strikes.

Cade throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Taylor uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Cade has time to react.
Cade fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Taylor wants to clinch

and Cade counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Taylor!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Cade goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Taylor has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Cade but great work by Taylor.

Taylor stands up and beckons Cade to his feet.
Taylor shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
Cade changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Taylor tries to avoid it but Cade manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Taylor to the ground. Taylor escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Taylor jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.
A punch combination from Taylor misses.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
No joy there for Taylor, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Taylor moves in looking to clinch but Cade pushes him off.

Taylor moves into range and clinches up with Cade.
Taylor looking to throw knees to the head but Cade is blocking nicely.
Taylor scores a nice knee to the body.

Cade breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Cade swats away the attempt to clinch by Taylor.
Cade pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Cade fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Taylor to the ground. Cade is now in Taylor's guard.
We've been hearing that Cade has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.
Cade tries to free his leg and advance position but Taylor is retaining full guard.
Taylor has his hands on Cade's head, controlling the position.
Cade has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Taylor is proving hard to escape from.

Taylor wants to sweep here but Cade controlling him for the moment.
Cade pushes down on Taylor's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Taylor has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Cade is working away from the top position though.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Taylor makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!

Cade closes this distance looking for a takedown but Taylor circles away.
The fight stays on the outside here - Taylor looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Taylor leaves Cade with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Taylor gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Cade to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Taylor is pulling down on Cade's head to control his posture.
Cade postures up in Taylor's guard and throws a big left but Taylor blocks it.

Taylor is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Cade passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Taylor is not content to let Cade control the position.

Cade decides to stand back up.
Taylor tries to clinch but Cade is having none of it.
Cade lands with a nice body kick.
Cade jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Taylor tries to close the distance and clinch but Cade swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Taylor fails in his attempt to clinch.
Tat Taylor is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Cade shoots for a takedown but Taylor saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

That was a close second round but I would say that Carl Cade will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Taylor lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Cade has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Cade and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.
Cade tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Taylor defends well and Cade ends up having to push Taylor into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Cade has Taylor pressed against the cage, preventing Taylor from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

Cade avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Taylor throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Cade.

The crowd cheers as Taylor lands an impressive looking overhand right. Cade doesn't seem phased though.

Tat Taylor comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Taylor has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
