The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mott misses with the combination.
Mott works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Mott throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
The fighters circling - Mott throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Malapitan throws a right hand that misses

and Mott holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Mott works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Malapitan wants to stand but Mott is controlling the position.
Mott missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Juan Mott hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Mott doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Malapitan connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
Malapitan throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Mott counters with a solid body kick.
Malapitan moves out of range of the body kick from Mott.
Mott misses with a two punch combination.
Mott pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Malapitan slips under a jab from Mott.
Mott connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Malapitan uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Mott.
Mott will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Malapitan scores with the left hand. Mott knows he should have avoided that one.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Mott tries a head kick but it misses.
Mott scores with a one two! Malapitan had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
Malapitan throws a series of punches but Mott moves out of range.

Malapitan throws a right hand that Mott ducks under and follows up with a left that Mott also avoids with ease.
Mott jabs Malapitan to the body, keeping him at a distance.
