Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Krzystof Gozdzik!
The judges for this bout are Thiago Cunha, Paulo Santos and Emerson Jorge.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gozdzik catches Howlingate with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
Gozdzik rushes in with a sloppy looking punch

and Howlingate counters with a nice double leg into guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Gozdzik looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Howlingate wants to stand but Gozdzik has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Howlingate tries to stand but Gozdzik is controlling his head.

Howlingate has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.

Howlingate decides to stand back up. Howlingate steps back and let's Gozdzik get back to his feet.
Howlingate blocks a head kick by Gozdzik.
Gozdzik feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Howlingates jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Gozdzik thows a body shot but no joy.
Gozdzik misses with a hook. Howlingate ducked under it nicely.

Gozdzik decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Howlingate is defending against the submission attempts here by Gozdzik.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Gozdzik is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Howlingate has managed to free his arm - good work.

Gozdzik stops Howlingate from getting back to his feet.

Gozdzik looking for a submission but Howlingate manages to get full guard, putting an end to that submission attempt.

Gozdzik has gone for a leg lock! Howlingate slips out almost immediately though and dives into Gozdzik's guard.

Howlingate wanted to stand there but Gozdzik had control of the position.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Gozdzik throws his legs up looking for a submission but Howlingate uses it to pass to side control.
Howlingate knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Gozdzik on the ground.
Howlingate tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Gozdzik is trying to maintain a safe position but Howlingate gets an underhook and turns Gozdzik into the ropes.

Gozdzik tightens his grip and picks Howlingate up, before dumping him to the ground. Howlingate manages to land in guard.
Gozdzik wants to control from the top but Howlingate keeps moving.

Gozdzik is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Howlingate is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Howlingate has escaped and now he's on top!
Howlingate has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Gozdzik looking for a guillotine here but Howlingate defends easily.

Gozdzik throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Howlingate escapes and throws Gozdzik's legs to the side, diving into side control!

Roger Howlingate overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Gozdzik tries to reverse the position but Howlingate maintains control.

Howlingate tries to stand up but he's trapped just for the moment.

Gozdzik is desperately trying to improve his position but Howlingate has a good base and remains in mount.

Gozdzik tries to clinch up against the ropes, rushing in to close the distance. Howlingate manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Gozdzik bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Howlingate's head backwards.
Krzystof Gozdzik seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Howlingate uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Gozdzik.
Gozdzik thows a left - swing and a miss!
Gozdzik looks to score with a jab to the body but Howlingate is just out of range.
Gozdzik drops Howlingate with a naaaaasty hook - Howlingate is in real trouble here! Gozdzik dives in to side control and pounds out his opponent for a TKO victory! The crowd goes nuts!
