Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Franco Gomez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Reece Edward Duenas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gomez comes into the arena with Bad Motherfucker blaring out of the sound system. Duenas comes into a darkened arena with his song building. California Gurls kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Franco Gomez had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
10 - 18 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Franco Gomez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
32 - 20 - 1, fighting out of Hilo, Reece Edward Duenas!
The judges for this bout are Thiago Cunha, Leandro Rodrigues and Mauricio Rocha.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gomez has his takedown stuffed
and Duenas connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Duenas gets caught napping as Gomez dives in and scores a takedown. Duenas manages to retain guard.
Gomez has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Gomez is looking to advance position but Duenas has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!
Duenas lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Duenas trying to control but Gomez is having none of it.
Gomez regains half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Gomez is trying to get back to full guard.
Duenas working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Duenas is working for a submission of some sort.
Duenas passes to side control.

Gomez is trying to improve his position.
Duenas landing a few strikes.
Gomez tries to improve position but can't.
Duenas scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Gomez to see if he's OK.
Gomez throws a couple of strikes even though he's not really in a good position to do so.
Duenas looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Duenas trying to control the position but Gomez is working away.
Gomez tries to improve position but can't.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Duenas lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Gomez down.
Duenas is working Gomez over with some ground and pound from side control.
Duenas lands a decent elbow from side control.
Gomez is trying to get back to half guard.

We've been hearing good reports from Gomez's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
Duenas is looking to take a break and control but Gomez is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Duenas has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Duenas cracks Gomez with a big right hand but Gomez just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Duenas looks up at the clock and then as Gomez takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Duenas smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Gomez manages to work his way to half guard, despite Duenas's best efforts.
Duenas is working for a kimura but Gomez is defending it quite comfortably.
Gomez tries to roll over but Duenas keeps him under control.
That's three minutes gone in the round.
Duenas working over Gomez with some ground and pound. Gomez looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Duenas is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Gomez!
Duenas with shots to the head and body - Gomez looks very uncomfortable down there.
Gomez is rocked!
Duenas is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Gomez can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Oh Gomez is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Gomez tries to hold on but Duenas pushes him away.
Duenas landing strikes from the mount.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Duenas loads up on a couple of big shots to the head that have Gomez scrambling to escape. He can't get free though and several more unanswered shots from Duenas land to the head. The referee has no choice but to stop the fight. Duenas stands and salutes the crowd.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:52 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Reece Edward Duenas!
