PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Gerald Bryant (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mad Man (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Franklyn Lucas, Dean Styles and Joseph Jones.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Man tries for a takedown but Bryant circles away easily

and Bryant counters by clinching up.

Bryant has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Man regains guard immediately.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Bryant preventing the sweep.
Bryant is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Bryant's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Gerald Bryant.
Man shoots and misses
and Bryant finishes the little exchange by landing a big kick to the body.
Man tries for a takedown but Bryant circles away easily

and Bryant holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Gerald Bryant has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mad Man.

Bryant might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Bryant could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Bryant tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Bryant is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Bryant on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Bryant tries to get out of the position.

Bryant is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Man trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Bryant knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Man on the ground.
Bryant is controlling Man's posture.
Man would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Man misses with a takedown attempt

and Bryant counters by moving into the clinch.

Bryant manages to break the clinch.
Man will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Man shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Bryant moves into the clinch.

Bryant escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Man wants to clinch but Bryant slips to the side

and Bryant counters with a shoot takedown. Man fights it but they end up in guard.
Man looks winded!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Man is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Bryant seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Man is trying to hold Bryant in close to prevent damage but Bryant has managed to pass into half guard.

Bryant stands up and beckons Man to join him on the feet.

Bryant changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Man looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Bryant lands a decent elbow from side control.
The referee asks Bryant politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Bryant prefers to stall for the moment though.
Man tries to improve position but can't.
Bryant wants to stand but Man has his arm trapped.
Man tries to control the position but he's not in luck - Bryant easily slips into full mount!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Bryant tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Man reaches up to try and control the position but Bryant seems to have an arm triangle now! Uh oh! Man rolls and tries to escape and now Bryant has his back!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Man moves to clinch but Bryant breaks away

and Bryant counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Man!
