Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Matthew Altschuler (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Derek Orwitski (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Altschuler comes to the cage accompanied by Extreme Ways - Moby. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Matthew Altschuler! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Derek Orwitski! The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Gregory Folan and Steve Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Nice takedown defense from Orwitski. No joy for Altschuler on that attempt. Altschuler shoots in looking for a takedown. Orwitski tries to sprawl out of it but Altschuler keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Orwitski manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Altschuler wants to clinch. Orwitski clinches but Altschuler breaks the clinch and Altschuler counters with a single leg into guard. Orwitski didn't expect that. Altschuler prevents Orwitski from getting back to his feet. Altschuler working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Orwitski's head. Orwitski can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Altschuler controls the pace. Altschuler trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Altschuler is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Altschuler stopping the sweep attempt from Orwitski.

Orwitski is working an open guard so Altschuler takes the opportunity to get back to his feet. Altschuler misses with a takedown attempt - Orwitski sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Matthew Altschuler. That's going to take a lot out of him. Altschuler shoots in but no luck this time. Orwitski tries to clinch but Altschuler moves away and Altschuler counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Altschuler has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Orwitski is looking to escape. Orwitski tries to get to full guard but Altschuler has control of the leg. Altschuler seems to be working for a kimura but Orwitski defends the submission attempt. Orwitski blocking the ground and pound attempt from Altschuler. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Orwitski can do anything to dispel that myth. Orwitski wants to get back to his feet. Altschuler is looking for a kimura here.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Altschuler is looking to take a break and control but Orwitski is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Orwitski is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first. Orwitski is trying to get back to full guard. Altschuler decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet. Altschuler closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Orwitski to the mat! Orwitski manages to get full guard. That's four minutes gone in the round. Altschuler is working Orwitski over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. Altschuler throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Orwitski works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Altschuler pushes down on Orwitski's leg and manages to get into half guard. Orwitski wants to get back to his feet. Altschuler moves into full mount! Orwitski won't be happy about that! Altschuler landing shots from mount. Altschuler looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet. Altschuler could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Orwitski trying desperately to get to his feet.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Altschuler landing strikes, looking to finish! Orwitski wants to control but Altschuler is having none of it. Altschuler looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

He shot from a bit too far out. Orwitski is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Matthew Altschuler seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Altschuler fails with a takedown attempt. That's two minutes gone in the round. Orwitski wants to get back to his feet but Altschuler is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Altschuler pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Orwitski is keeping the position for now. Orwitski wants to stand and escape but Altschuler is having none of it. Orwitski keeping moving, preventing Altschuler from controlling successfully.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground. Altschuler shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Altschuler prevents Orwitski from improving his position. Orwitski is trying to stand back up but Altschuler is controlling him
That's three minutes gone in the round. Altschuler working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. Altschuler works his way into side control. Altschuler is working to tighten is grip on Orwitski's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Orwitski has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Altschuler is really squeezing tight and eventually Orwitski passes out! Altschuler breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
