PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Wilburn Hogan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Takamura Mamoru (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Takamura Mamoru will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Wilburn Hogan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Takamura Mamoru!
The judges for this bout are Arvi Lind, Tarja Halkonen and Marco Blurstr�m.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mamoru has his takedown stuffed

and Hogan counters with a single leg into guard. Mamoru didn't expect that.
Mamoru looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Hogan sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Mamoru's guard.
Hogan not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Hogan tries to stand but can't do so whilst Mamoru controls his leg.
Hogan content to control rather than advance.
Hogan is looking to advance position but Mamoru won't allow it.
Hogan is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
It looks like Hogan is going to stand back up.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Hogan seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Mamoru looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Mamoru wants to control but Hogan passes into side.

Hogan tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Hogan is chipping away with strikes.
Hogan wants to stand but Mamoru is controlling his arm.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Hogan is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Mamoru knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Mamoru seems a little lost for a moment, as Hogan dominates the positioning.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hogan has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Hogan tries to stand but Mamoru is controlling his head.
Hogan taking a breather here.

Mamoru is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
Hogan tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.
Hogan creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.

Hogan stands up and beckons Mamoru to his feet.

Hogan closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Still in half guard, Hogan seems content to control.
Hogan really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Hogan's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Hogan wants to stand up but Mamoru has a hold of him and won't allow it.
Hogan is nestled in close to Mamoru, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Hogan is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
Hogan tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Hogan cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
And that�s the end of the round � the fighters go back to their corners.

Wilburn Hogan dominated that round.
That's time! Hogan's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.



Hogan throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Mamoru was covering up waiting for the punch and Hogan finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Hogan passes Mamoru's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Hogan working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Mamoru has hold of Hogan's hands but Hogan slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Hogan moves nicely into side control.
Hogan just content to control the position.
Mamoru is breathing heavily.
Hogan wants to stand but Mamoru is controlling his arm.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Hogan happy to just control the position for now.
Hogan has knee on belly and moves into mount.
Hogan wants to get back to his feet but Mamoru is holding on tight.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Hogan controlling the pace for now.
Hogan seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Mamoru for as long as he can get away with.

Hogan wants to finish this one by submission but Mamoru is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Hogan.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Hogan prevents Mamoru from getting the reversal.
Hogan with the ground and pound from mount.

Hogan is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Mamoru can do to turn this around?

Hogan moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Mamoru has worked his arm free - good work by Mamoru!
Mamoru prevents Hogan from moving into mount.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Hogan tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Hogan has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Hogan wants to stand but Mamoru is controlling his arm.
And that�s the end of the round � the fighters go back to their corners.

Wilburn Hogan dominated that second round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!


Hogan misses with a low kick as Mamoru jumps back.
Hogan defending well as Mamoru loads up on a big left hand.

Hogan closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Mamoru's guard.
Mamoru keeping full guard, as Hogan tries to pass.
Hogan seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Hogan is looking to stand up but Mamoru won't let him.
Mamoru takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Hogan postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Hogan won't allow Mamoru to get back to his feet.
Hogan is working Mamoru over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Mamoru keeping full guard, as Hogan tries to pass.
Hogan passes Mamoru's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Well, if Hogan is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight� I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza� Yum. Can't wait.

Hogan is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Hogan is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

Hogan scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Hogan takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Hogan is looking for a kimura but Mamoru is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Hogan to get the leverage.

Hogan is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Mamoru wants to control but Hogan is keeping busy and won't allow it.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Hogan controlling the action here.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

We're going to have a standup here because Wilburn Hogan wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Hogan tries to clinch but Mamoru moves out of range.

Hogan drives through with a takedown into guard.
Hogan would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Hogan not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Hogan's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

And that's the end of the fight!
Wilburn Hogan showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Hogan has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
