Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Solomon Gillespie! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Georges St Pierre! The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Steve Smith and Trevor Gratis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Gillespie circles away from the clinch attempt letting Gillespie counter with a right hand. The fight moves into the clinch position. Gillespie really is a fat lump. St Pierre is trying to force a seperation but Gillespie has the dominant position. Gillespie breaks from the clinch.
St Pierre throws a nice inside leg kick. Gillespie throws a body kick but he wasn't in range. Sloppy strikes from St Pierre. Those never looked like landing. St Pierre fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Gillespie tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Gillespie shoots in looking for a takedown. St Pierre tries to sprawl out of it but Gillespie keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. St Pierre manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Gillespie fails with a takedown attempt.
That's one minute gone in the round. St Pierre tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Gillespie swivels and escapes. St Pierre tests Gillespie's chin there with a solid looking shot. Gillespie tries to clinch up but St Pierre circles away and keeps his distance. Gillespie misses with a low kick.

St Pierre closes the distance and clinches. St Pierre gets a nice trip takedown into half guard. St Pierre is trying to control the action in half guard but Gillespie is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Gillespie looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Gillespie really is built like a bowling ball. I wonder if he'd roll if you pushed him down a hill...
