Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Tron Carter! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
9 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Andr De Fran! The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Jack Bonds and Timothy Bukovac.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A good leg kick by Carter. De Fran throws a combination. Carter tries to block but a couple of punches get through. De Fran cracks the inside of Carter's front leg. Carter takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Carter takes a body kick right on the floating rib. Ouchie.
A slapping leg kick lands for De Fran.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from De Fran. Carter takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Carter takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him. Carter ducks under a wild hook from De Fran. De Fran dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Carter. That did some damage! Carter takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Carter shoots in for a double leg but De Fran sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. De Fran throws the left hand but Carter avoids the punch easily. De Fran misses with a body kick.
That's one minute gone in the round. Carter takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Carter swats away the attempt to clinch by De Fran. De Fran misses with a leg kick and Carter counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. De Fran is not content to let Carter control the position. De Fran controlling the position for now. De Fran is trying to get back to full guard. Carter thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed De Fran's head. Carter seems to be working for a kimura but De Fran defends the submission attempt. Carter wants to pass to mount but De Fran is defending the position. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! De Fran is looking to control Carter's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can De Fran avoid being mounted?
That's two minutes gone in the round. De Fran on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. De Fran is pressing down on Carter's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. De Fran working a defensive guard here.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Carter ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Carter misses with a hook. De Fran ducked under it nicely. De Fran with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
De Fran throws a leg kick but Carter moved away. Andr De Fran is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. De Fran lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin. Carter checks a leg kick. De Fran swings for the body but Carter moves out of range.
Carter throws a lazy right hand but De Fran sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Carter looks to score with a jab to the body but De Fran is just out of range. Carter slips a straight right by De Fran. Carter is looking to slow De Fran down with leg kicks. Carter looks to land a right hand but De Fran moved out of range. Carter swings for the body but De Fran moves out of range.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A clash of legs there as Carter blocks the low kick. De Fran misses with an uppercut. De Fran swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Carter throws a looping overhand right but De Fran ducks down to avoid it. De Fran misses with a low kick as Carter jumps back. Carter doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body. Carter ducks under a wild hook from De Fran. De Fran throws out a loose jab but Carter uses good head movement to avoid it. That kick from De Fran tenderised Carter's leg. Carter is trying to keep his angry face on. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! De Fran fakes a jab and then connects with a hook. Carter moves out of range of the strikes. A decent looking cross lands there for De Fran. De Fran throws a mid kick that lands with a slap. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A head kick by De Fran misses and Carter counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in De Fran's guard now. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Carter accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. De Fran is trying to keep Carter in close.

Carter is fighting to break De Fran's control of his arms but De Fran is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment. De Fran is trying to control the position from the bottom.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Andr De Fran hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart. De Fran lands with an overhand left. De Fran uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Carter.

He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those. Carter cracks the inside of De Fran's front leg. Carter scores with a jab to the head.

De Fran looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple. De Fran takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.

Jab from De Fran. Carter walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head. De Fran throws a low kick but Carter moves out of range easily. De Fran throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Carter stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. De Fran throws a lazy uppercut
and Carter counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Carter winds up and cracks De Fran with a swinging punch to the side of the head. De Fran avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Carter. Carter has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Carter is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but De Fran is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. De Fran is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Carter off and has taken his back! And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

De Fran is wobbling all over the place through exhaustion. Will he make it to the final bell? Carter scoring with strikes to the body and head. De Fran is trying to control but can't.
