Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Quentin Reyes! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Bobby McCalls! The judges for this bout are Lou da Vinci, Chad Campbell and Anthony Taglia.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Reyes closes this distance looking for a takedown but McCalls circles away. Horrible takedown by Reyes or perhaps it was just good defense by McCalls which made him look bad. McCalls tries to clinch but Reyes moves out of range. Nice takedown defense from McCalls. No joy for Reyes on that attempt. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Quentin Reyes. That's going to take a lot out of him. A clash of legs there as McCalls blocks the low kick. Reyes tries to clinch up but McCalls circles away and keeps his distance. McCalls fails with an attempt to clinch.
McCalls tries to close the distance and clinch up but Reyes swats him away and circles back towards the center. McCalls closes the distance and pushes Reyes back into the cage. McCalls pulls Reyes into guard.
Reyes might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace. McCalls is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Reyes is aware though and is defending well. Reyes stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. McCalls swivels though and keeps the full guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. McCalls is adopting a defensive guard. Reyes is looking to stand up but McCalls won't let him. McCalls can't keep his opponent in guard - Reyes advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. McCalls tries to get to full guard but Reyes has control of the leg. McCalls wants to get back to full guard but Reyes has mounted him!
That's two minutes gone in the round. McCalls holds on, trying desperately to control. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. McCalls can't escape the position.
McCalls is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Reyes throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for McCalls because Reyes loaded up on that one. Reyes could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. McCalls tries to hold on but Reyes pushes him away. McCalls is trying to escape the mount.
McCalls looks winded! Reyes controlling the pace for now. Reyes has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
That's three minutes gone in the round. McCalls wants to hold on but Reyes pushes him away. Reyes wants to control the pace but McCalls is squirming around nicely. Reyes controlling his opponent. McCalls working to try and regain half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. McCalls keeps trying to improve his position. Reyes throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
McCalls really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Reyes wants to finish this one by submission but McCalls is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Reyes. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Reyes controlling the position easily from mount. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Quentin Reyes will probably get the nod. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!
McCalls keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. McCalls fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Reyes has McCalls up against the cage in a clinch.
McCalls can't find room to land a body shot as Reyes controls the action.

McCalls is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Reyes pulls him back up using the underhooks. Reyes is trying to break free.
That's one minute gone in the round. McCalls blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning. Reyes stops a takedown attempt from McCalls.
Quentin Reyes has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Bobby McCalls. Reyes tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
McCalls fails to pull the fight into his guard.
McCalls is breathing heavily. McCalls lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.
McCalls prevents Reyes from standing back up.
McCalls wants to free his trapped foot but Reyes is holding on for dear life with his legs. Reyes is pressing down on McCalls's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Reyes is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and McCalls defends well.
That's two minutes gone in the round. McCalls stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Reyes swivels though and keeps the full guard. Reyes wants to sweep but no luck. McCalls postures up in Reyes's guard and throws a big left but Reyes blocks it. Reyes is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. McCalls is aware though and is defending well. McCalls wants to get up but he can't break Reyes's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Reyes is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. McCalls manages to get to full guard.
Reyes gets to his feet. McCalls looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son! McCalls moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross. McCalls is looking to clinch but Reyes is avoiding it.
Reyes rushes McCalls and presses him up against the cage. Reyes is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.
That's four minutes gone in the round. McCalls is looking for a takedown. A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors. McCalls keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Reyes's efforts to push away. Reyes jumps guard but McCalls turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing. Reyes is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. McCalls is pushing Reyes up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word. Reyes is trying to break the clinch but McCalls has him pressed against the cage. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Quentin Reyes dominated that second round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!
Reyes fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. McCalls fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Reyes, pushing him back against the cage. McCalls gets a nice trip takedown into half guard. Reyes has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. McCalls is working away from the top position though. McCalls is stalling here. Reyes is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! McCalls seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Reyes has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work. McCalls gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard. McCalls takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Reyes stalling away here and it's allowed McCalls to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. McCalls is looking to stand up but Reyes isn't so interested in that idea. McCalls is looking to sweep but instead, Reyes has passed into half guard.
McCalls tries to get to full guard but Reyes has control of the leg. Reyes is figuring out what he wants to do next. McCalls is positioning himself well to prevent Reyes advancing to mount.

Reyes content to sit in half guard and control for a moment. Reyes wants to stand but McCalls has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.

Reyes trying to control the position from guard on top but McCalls is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. McCalls looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Reyes stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. McCalls swivels though and keeps the full guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. McCalls keeping moving, preventing Reyes from controlling successfully. The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace. Reyes looking to pass the guard. Reyes's corner is telling him to maintain position.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Quentin Reyes. Reyes shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. McCalls darts in looking for a takedown but Reyes gets double underhooks and turns McCalls into the cage. McCalls has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Reyes regains guard immediately. Bobby McCalls has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Quentin Reyes is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. McCalls loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
