Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Lino Franks! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Jake Dezman! The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, Colin Fotheringham and Sam Margolis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Dezman fails to land with a series of punches.
Franks clinches up against the cage. Dezman breaks from the clinch.
Franks misses with a takedown and Dezman counters by clinching up. Franks breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Franks shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Franks showed some decent athleticism there. The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up. Dezman trying to control from the bottom.
Dezman is looking to escape. Dezman tries to roll over but Franks keeps him under control. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Franks in particular looking to stall.
That's one minute gone in the round. Dezman tries to get to full guard but Franks has control of the leg. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Dezman can do anything to dispel that myth. Dezman is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Franks really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Franks content to control rather than advance.
We're going to have a standup here because Lino Franks wasn't active enough for the referee's liking. Franks tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Dezman swivels and escapes. Dezman tries to clinch up but Franks circles away and keeps his distance. Franks wants to clinch up but Dezman keeps it at a distance. Franks forces Dezman back against the cage and clinches. Franks looking to throw knees to the head but Dezman is blocking nicely.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Dezman tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Franks smiles and moves away.
A momentary lapse in concentration from Franks enables Dezman to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Franks manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. Franks is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Dezman rolls with it to try and escape but Franks cranks on the arm and Dezman is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!
