Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Horace Head (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Felix Ward (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Horace Head has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 1, fighting out of London, Horace Head!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Felix Ward!
The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, James Ackerman and James Atkins.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Ward looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Head is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Head wants to get back to his feet but Ward is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Ward content to stall in guard here.
Ward trying to control the position from guard on top but Head is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Head wants to stand up but Ward is controlling him.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Felix Ward was stalling too much, according to the referee.

Ward closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Head's guard.

Ward postures up in Head's guard and throws a big left but Head blocks it.
Head looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Ward must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Ward trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Ward wants to get up but he can't break Head's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Ward trying to control but Head is working from the bottom.
Head looking to hit a scissor sweep but Ward is one step ahead there.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Head is working hard here to advance position.
Ward wants to get up but he can't break Head's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Ward is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Felix Ward.

Ward bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Head struggling a bit here.
Head is looking for a sweep.
Head manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
Head thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Ward's head.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Head is thwarting Ward's attempts to control the position.
Ward is looking to get back to full guard here but Head has managed to pass to side control instead.

Ward is looking for a sweep.
Ward wants to control but Head postures up.
Ward is looking to reverse the position.
Head working the head with strikes.
Head throws an elbow but Ward slips to the side and avoids it well.
Ward struggling a bit here.
Head wants to control but Ward is keeping him busy.
Ward is trying to control Head's posture but Head avoids it.

Ward looking for a sweep but Head has passed into full mount! Oh no!
Ward squirming around on the bottom, looking to escape.
Ward regains half guard.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Head connects with a nice short shot to Ward's temple.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Head misses with a head shot. Ward uses the momentum to regain guard.
Head postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Felix Ward dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.



Ward changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Head looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Ward wants to control but Head is keeping him busy.

Ward decides to stand up, so the ref orders Head to his feet.

Ward trying to control but Head is working from the bottom.

Ward got a little sloppy there for a moment and Head has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Ward has managed to get both his arms back between Head's legs - danger averted.
Head tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Head is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Ward is aware though and is defending well.

Ward stands up from Head's guard - Ward perhaps looking for a knockout.

Ward shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Ward was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Head tries to improve position but can't.

Head is not content to let Ward control the position.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Head is trying to improve his position.
Head looks to move to half guard but instead Ward has passed into mount! Damn!
Ward wants to control the pace but Head is squirming around nicely.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Ward thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage.
Head is working to get back to half guard.
Felix Ward has got the better of the ground game so far.
Head is in a horrible position here. Ward smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Head tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Ward controlling the pace for now.

Head wants to hold on but Ward pushes him away.
Ward thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage.
Head tries to lock up and control but Ward gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Ward with shots to the head and body - Head looks very uncomfortable down there.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Head is in all sorts of trouble here.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Ward trying to control but Head is having none of it.
Head wants to control but Ward is having none of it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Felix Ward showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.



Ward drives through with a takedown into Head's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Head wants to sweep but no luck.
Ward wants to pass the guard but Head is keeping the position.
Head wants to sweep but no luck.
Ward stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Head swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Ward wants to control from the top but Head keeps moving.

Ward cracks the inside of Head's front leg.

Ward closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Head did well to prevent Ward getting side control.
Head manages to get to full guard.
Head utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Ward not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Head is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Ward rolls with it to try and escape but Head cranks on the arm and Ward is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!
