Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Chael Sonnen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Josef Dellal (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sonnen kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is My rap . Man, I cannot wait for this one!

The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Robert Twigg and Cecil Peabody.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dellal shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Sonnen but Sonnen pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Dellal circles away from the clinch attempt
and Dellal counters with a shoot takedown. Sonnen fights it but they end up in guard.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

Sonnen wants to get back to his feet but Dellal is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

I was talking to Sonnen's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.

Dellal's coach down at 11th Planet Fitness ($100/wk) was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Dellal's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.

Sonnen throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Dellals head.
Dellal is trying to drag Sonnen to the mat but Sonnen just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Sonnen creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
Dellal jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Sonnen walks away with a smile on his face. Dellal gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Sonnen tries to close the distance and clinch but Dellal swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Sonnen wants to clinch.
Chael Sonnen seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Sonnen slaps away a takedown attempt from Dellal, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Dellal tries to keep at a distance but Sonnen has taken the fight into the clinch.

Dellal changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Sonnen fights it off and pushes away nicely.

The crowd are getting pretty annoyed with Sonnen for his constant stalling in the clinch and are voicing their displeasure.

Sonnen gets through Dellal's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.

Sonnen digs a right hand into Dellal's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Dellal's gas tank.

Dellal has his foot on Sonnen's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Sonnen works his way back into a safe position though.
Dellal looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Dellal tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Sonnen gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Sonnen doesn't manage to clinch there - Dellal circles away.
Dellal swats away the attempt to clinch by Sonnen.

Sonnen wants to clinch but Dellal slips to the side
and Dellal counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Dellal wants to pass to mount but Sonnen is defending the position.
Sonnen is staying active underneath Dellal, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Dellal might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Sonnen haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Josef Dellal wasn't active enough on the ground.
Sonnen tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Dellal counters with a shoot takedown. Sonnen fights it but they end up in guard.
And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Josef Dellal.
I think Dellal has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
