Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between James Harbor (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ichi Ijima (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ijima has chosen Alphabetical #1 - Karera Musication as his entrance music. Ichi Ijima told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
15 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, James Harbor! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
15 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ichi Ijima! The judges for this bout are Seu Braga, Thiago Cunha and Daniel Cesar.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ijima takes a swing at Harbor's ribcage but misses. Ijima has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Harbor is landing a low percentage of strikes. Harbor fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Ijima manages to avoid it. Harbor throws a nice looking combination but Ijima bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Harbor misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Harbor defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Ijima. Ijima slips a straight right by Harbor. Ijima misses with a takedown attempt and Harbor counters with a straight right hand. Harbor looks to land a right hand but Ijima moved out of range. Harbor jabs Ijima right on the nose. Ijima blinks but takes it well. We've been told by Harbor's head coaches at The Garcia Grappling Academy - Rio that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight. Harbor looks to score with a jab to the body but Ijima is just out of range. Harbor looks to land a right hand but Ijima moved out of range. Harbor misses with a looping left. Harbor loads up on a big right hand but Ijima slips the punch. James Harbor seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Harbor misses the shot to the body. Ijima dodges the punch combination from Harbor.
Ijima shoots in looking for a takedown. Harbor tries to sprawl out of it but Ijima keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Harbor manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. James Harbor has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ichi Ijima. Harbor works Ijima's body with a nice hook.
That's one minute gone in the round. Harbor throws a hook but Ijima avoids it easily. Harbor lands with an uppercut that bounces Ijima off the cage and back into range. James Harbor is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Harbor lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Ijima ducks under a wild hook from Harbor. Ijima tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Harbor was well out of range. Poor timing from Ijima. Harbor misses with a straight right. Harbor swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Ijima takes a shot right to the bread basket. Harbor throws the left hand but Ijima avoids the punch easily. Harbor pushing out the jab but it's not landing. Ijima drives through with a takedown into guard. Harbor looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Ijima chips away with some ground and pound.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Ijima advances position into side control! Harbor is working to avoid the ground and pound but Ijima connects with a decent elbow. Ijima cracks Harbor with an elbow. That is naaassty. Check out the look on Ijima's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!

Harbor looking for a kimura from the bottom but Ijima passes into side control! Harbor is not content to let Ijima control the position. Harbor tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Ijima wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Ijima looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Ijima wants to lay and pray for a moment but Harbor keeps working.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Harbor gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard. Harbor looking for submissions off his back. Harbor gets full guard. Ijima chips away with some ground and pound. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Ijima got a little sloppy there for a moment and Harbor has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Ijima has managed to get both his arms back between Harbor's legs - danger averted. Ijima wants to control from the top but Harbor keeps moving. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Ijima is in close to Harbor's body, working some short punches and elbows. Ijima throws a big elbow that misses. Ijima is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. Harbor is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Ichi Ijima will probably get the nod. That's time! Back to the action!
Ijima uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Harbor. Harbor lands a head shot. Harbor rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Ijima counters with a left to the body. Harbor moves into range and connects with a jab. Harbor looks to throw the jab but Ijima is out of range. Harbor misses with a hook. Ijima ducked under it nicely. Ijima moves out of range of the strikes. Harbor lands a jab to the nose. Harbor misses with a looping left. Harbor thows a body shot but no joy. Harbor misses with a body shot.
Ijima changes levels and scores with a jab to the body. Ijima fails in his attempt to clinch. Ijima walks into a straight right hand from Harbor. Ijima looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ijima trying to control the action but Harbor is working from the bottom. Harbor has guillotine here! It looks pretty tight! Could this be all over! No, Ijima escapes and passes into side control at the same time. Nice work there by Ijima! Harbor takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Ijima has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Harbor is not in a great position here, taking some shots. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Harbor is looking for a sweep. Harbor is working hard here to advance position. Ijima working the body and head with strikes. Ijima scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Harbor to see if he's OK. Harbor tries to get back to half guard but can't. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! The referee asks Ijima politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Ijima prefers to stall for the moment though. Harbor takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.

Harbor looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Ijima is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Harbor! Harbor can't escape the position.

Harbor is rocked! A big strike lands for Ijima! That's really hurt Harbor and he's turned his back - Ijima keeps firing away and the ref dives in to stop the fight! Ijima jumps to his feet to celebrate the victory!
