Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between John Riggs (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Avon Barksdale (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, John Riggs! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Avon Barksdale! The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Cecil Peabody and Wesley Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Riggs shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Barksdale but Barksdale pushes him off and we're back to square one. Nice sprawl there from Barksdale as Riggs shoots in. Riggs tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Barksdale swivels and escapes. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for John Riggs. That's going to take a lot out of him. Riggs throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Riggs throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Barksdale tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Riggs is in Barksdale's guard. The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up. Barksdale trying to keep a closed guard but Riggs is proving a slippery customer.

Riggs scores with a decent looking elbow strike. Barksdale looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Riggs drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Riggs jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Barksdale has momentary wrist control but Riggs slips an elbow through the middle. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Riggs is in close to Barksdale's body, working some short punches and elbows.
That's one minute gone in the round. Riggs works a leg free and moves into half guard. Barksdale tries to get to full guard but Riggs has control of the leg. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Barksdale can do anything to dispel that myth. Riggs works his way into side control. Riggs content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though. Barksdale really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Riggs. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Riggs scoring with punches and elbows.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Riggs cracks Barksdale with an elbow. That is naaassty.
Barksdale is rocked! Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Riggs grinds an elbow into Barksdale's temple. Barksdale is still in real trouble! Can Riggs finish him? The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. The crowd goes nuts as Riggs knocks Barksdale out cold with a massive hammerfist! Riggs Jumps to his feet and climbs on top of the cage to celebrate with the crowd!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:26 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). John Riggs!
