Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Bobby Deckard! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Jussier Cariaso! The judges for this bout are Johanna Lukiainen, Anni Minnemäki and Roosa Järviläinen.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Nice sprawl there from Deckard as Cariaso shoots in. Cariaso has taken the fight to the clinch.
With the two fighters working up against the cage, Deckard just misses with a elbow thrown towards Cariaso's brow. Deckard goes for a takedown in the clinch but Cariaso prevents it.
Cariaso tries to land knees in the clinch but Deckard avoids the damage to the body. Deckard jumps guard but Cariaso turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing. Cariaso leaning against his opponent.
Cariaso lands a takedown into guard.
Deckard controlling the position. Deckard on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Deckard tries to get out of the position. Deckard manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Cariaso manages to get himself to full guard.
Cariaso keeping full guard, as Deckard tries to pass. Deckard gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
That's one minute gone in the round. Cariaso gets caught napping as Deckard dives in and scores a takedown. Cariaso manages to retain guard. Cariaso wants to stand and escape but Deckard is having none of it. Deckard is fighting to break Cariaso's control of his arms but Cariaso is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment. Deckard is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Deckard trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Cariaso really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Deckard. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Deckard not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Bobby Deckard. Deckard misses with a takedown attempt - Cariaso sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Bobby Deckard. That's going to take a lot out of him. Cariaso darts in looking for a takedown but Deckard gets double underhooks and turns Cariaso into the cage.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Deckard working aggressively here.
A right handed body shot lands from Cariaso.
Deckard wants to break the clinch but can't.
Cariaso escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Deckard swats away the attempt to clinch by Cariaso. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Cariaso tries to clinch but Deckard moves out of range. Deckard throws a head kick that misses. Deckard shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Deckard showed some decent athleticism there. Cariaso has a hand on Deckard's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Deckard takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Deckard thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!
Cariaso tries to hold on but Deckard pushes him away. Deckard will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Cariaso is trying desperately to improve position. A nice elbow there by Deckard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Cariaso tries to get back to half guard but can't. Deckard throws some wild stikes that Cariaso manages to avoid easily.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Cariaso wants to control but Deckard is having none of it. Deckard thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!
Deckard wants to control the pace but Cariaso is squirming around nicely. Deckard is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Cariaso has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Cariaso! Deckard trying to control the position.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Deckard is looking for a triangle but Cariaso pushes his legs off easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Bobby Deckard dominated that round. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!
Cariaso decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Deckard is pressing down on Cariaso's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Cariaso loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Deckard wants to sweep here but Cariaso controlling him for the moment. Deckard looking for a triangle here. Cariaso is fighting it but it looks tight! Deckard pulls the arm across and this one won't last much longer! Nope, Cariaso is tapping out - this one is all over!
