Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between John Marston (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jose Aldo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Aldo's choice of entrance music: dmx. The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, John Marston!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jose Aldo!
The judges for this bout are David Schapiro, Jonathan Paton and Russell Pearce.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Aldo misses with a body kick.
Marston gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Aldo decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Marston's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Marston has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Aldo has passed into side control.
Marston is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Aldo's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
Aldo really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Marston. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Aldo has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Marston is working away from the top position though.

Marston is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Marston seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Aldo for as long as he can get away with.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Marston tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Aldo wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Aldo throwing strikes but Marston manages to buck up and roll into a nice reversal - now he's on top in side control!

Aldo is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Marston's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.

Aldo is breathing heavily.
Aldo is looking to get full guard. It looks like he might be successful but at the last minute Marston jumps into side control!
Aldo is trying to control Marston's posture but Marston avoids it.
Marston tries to advance to mount but can't.
Marston in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.

Marston cracks Aldo with an elbow. That is naaassty.
Aldo is trying to get back to half guard.
Aldo is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Marston looks up at the clock and then as Aldo takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Marston smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Aldo tries to buck Marston off but Marston is having none of it.
Marston lands a nice forearm strike.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Marston connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Aldo some visible discomfort.

Aldo is trying to escape the position but Marston is controlling the position.
Aldo is trying to improve his position.
Aldo tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Marston presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!

Aldo is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

Marston moves nicely into side control.

Aldo manages to work his way to half guard, despite Marston's best efforts.

Marston is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
It looks like Marston is going to stand back up.

Jose Aldo showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Marston wants to get up but he can't break Aldo's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Aldo is looking for a triangle but Marston pushes his legs off easily.

Marston slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Marston clinches with his opponent.
Aldo has had enough of the clinch but Marston keeps him there for the moment.

Marston pulls guard.
Aldo stands up over Marston, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Aldo throws a big right hand that misses.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Marston looking for a triangle here. Aldo is fighting it but it looks tight! Marston pulls the arm across and this one won't last much longer! Nope, Aldo is tapping out - this one is all over!
