PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Joon BigMan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rick Smash (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 7 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Joon BigMan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Rick Smash!
The judges for this bout are Arvi Lind, Roosa Järviläinen and Ben Zyskovitsi.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
BigMan tries to clinch there but Smash circles away.
Smash looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!

BigMan decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
BigMan tries to pass the half guard into mount. Smash knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

BigMan decides to return to a standing position.
BigMan tries for a takedown but Smash sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
BigMan tries to close the distance and clinch but Smash swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Smash tries to clinch there but BigMan circles away.
Smash shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. BigMan defends it nicely.
Smash shoots for a takedown but BigMan saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Smash defends well against a solid takedown attempt from BigMan.

BigMan throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Smash tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. BigMan is in Smash's guard.
BigMan works a leg free and moves into half guard.
BigMan is nestled in close to Smash, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
BigMan is taking a breather. Smash says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
BigMan takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
BigMan slows the pace down in half guard.
BigMan looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Smash with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

BigMan moves nicely into side control.
BigMan will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
BigMan passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Smash!
BigMan wants to take Smash's back but he can't do it this time.
BigMan lands a couple of good shots and Smash has given up his back, trying to escape the position!
A bit of a pause in the action here. BigMan controlling the positon.
BigMan has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

BigMan throwing strikes from the back - he gets a warning from the referee for striking the back of the head but all these shots are hurting Smash!

BigMan has got one arm under Smash's chin. This could be trouble... Smash trying to control the other hand but BigMan gets it free and sqeezes tight - just a matter of time now! Yep, Smash has tapped out! The fight is over!
