PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Zachary Patrick (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Don Ellis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Zachary Patrick!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Don Ellis!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Daniel Franklin and Wesley Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ellis shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Patrick defends it nicely.
Ellis misses with a few strikes there.
Patrick shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Ellis pinned against the cage. Ellis gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Ellis shoots for a double leg takedown but Patrick sprawls well. He's pushed Ellis's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Patrick.
Ellis dives in for a single leg takedown but Patrick sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

Ellis jumps guard but Patrick stands there with Ellis around his waist. Ellis gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Patrick looking to sit in guard and control but Ellis gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Ellis decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Patrick, up you get!
Patrick has a takedown stuffed.
Ellis fails with the takedown.
Patrick tries to clinch up but Ellis circles away and keeps his distance.

Ellis closes this distance looking for a takedown but Patrick circles away.
Patrick misses with a head kick.
Patrick looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Ellis shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Patrick stuffs the takedown attempt from Ellis. Ellis gets slowly back to his feet.

Ellis gets a clinch.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Ellis wants a takedown but no success here.
Patrick tries to pull guard but Ellis forces him back to his feet, against the cage.

Ellis is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Patrick gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

Patrick is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.
Patrick is trying to push Ellis away but Ellis has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Patrick jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Ellis walks away with a smile on his face. Patrick gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Patrick closes the distance and clinches up with Ellis, looking for a takedown. Patrick pushes Ellis against the cage but Ellis circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
A slapping body kick lands there for Ellis.
Patrick fails with a takedown attempt.
Nice takedown defense from Patrick. No joy for Ellis on that attempt.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Ellis.

Ellis dives in for a single leg takedown but Patrick sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Patrick stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body.

Ellis escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Patrick tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Ellis paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Patrick takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Patrick looks for a takedown but Ellis sprawls well.
Patrick swats away the attempt to clinch by Ellis.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Patrick takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Ellis closes this distance looking for a takedown but Patrick circles away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Ellis tries a head kick but it misses.

Ellis moves into the clinch.
Patrick tries to pull guard but Ellis forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
Patrick prevents a takedown attempt there.
Patrick really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Patrick goes for a double leg but Ellis avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Ellis continues to drive forward.
Ellis is trying to drag Patrick to the mat but Patrick just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Patrick is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.
Patrick tries to break the clinch but Ellis is controlling the position.
Ellis tries to score a body lock takedown but Patrick shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

Ellis changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Patrick tries to avoid it but Ellis manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Patrick to the ground. Patrick escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Ellis darts in looking for a takedown but Patrick gets double underhooks and turns Ellis into the cage.

Patrick stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Ellis swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Ellis thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.

Ellis lets loose with a powerful body kick. Patrick will feel that in the morning.
Patrick takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Patrick tries to close the distance and clinch up but Ellis swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Ellis fakes the leg kick and cracks Patrick in the body.
Patrick looks for a takedown but Ellis sprawls well.

Ellis forces Patrick back against the cage and clinches.

The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Ellis takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.

Ellis gets control of Patrick's arms and successfully pulls guard. Ellis will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Don Ellis comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Ellis has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
