Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jia O Connor (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Giovanni Fatale (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). O Connor's entrance music is Parkway Drive - Feed them to the pigs. A fine choice. Fatale is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Remember My Name. Jia O Connor has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
O Connor scores with a sloppy right hand. Fatale should have avoided that one.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
O Connor walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Fatale checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.

Jia O Connor seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

O Connor shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Fatale pinned against the cage. Fatale gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Fatale misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

O Connor feints and then cracks Fatale's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Fatale down.

We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
O Connor loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
O Connor throws a strike but Fatale rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Fatale wants to stand but O Connor has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Fatale seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Giovanni Fatale hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
O Connor connects with a crisp jab.
Fatale pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Fatale throws a combination but it was largely blocked by O Connor.
Fatale uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
Fatale throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.

O Connor lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Fatale is pushing down on O Connor's leg trying to pass to half guard. O Connor is fighting to maintain full guard but Fatale has managed to sneak the leg through.
Fatale has decided to stand back up but his arm is trapped. Whilst he's worrying about his arm, O Connor works to full guard.

O Connor is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
O Connor throws a strike but Fatale avoids it easily and moves to full guard.

Fatale can't keep his opponent in guard - O Connor advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Fatale keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
We've been hearing good reports from O Connor's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
O Connor works his way into side control.
Fatale is trying to control O Connor's posture but O Connor avoids it.
Fatale takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
O Connor looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Fatale is avoiding damage well.
O Connor is staying tight to Fatale's torso, preventing him from escaping.

O Connor tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no O Connor has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
You can see the frustration on Fatale's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
O Connor is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Fatale is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
