Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Thu Pham (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rick Hunter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Thu Pham! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Rick Hunter! The judges for this bout are Steve Erwin, Summer Carpenter and Damien Edna.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Pham scores with a jab to the head.
Hunter tries to clinch up but Pham circles away and keeps his distance. Pham seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym. Good standup being displayed there by Pham as he connects with a hook. Hunter will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Pham misses with a low kick.
Hunter drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon. Pham tries to control the position but he's not in luck - Hunter easily slips into full mount! Pham really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Pham is working hard here to advance position. This has been an exciting period of action! Pham slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hunter wants to stand but Pham has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now. Pham is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Hunter pulls his head out easily. Hunter seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. Pham looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Pham is looking for a sweep. Hunter is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Hunter is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
Pham is controlling Hunter's trapped leg to prevent Hunter from advancing to side control. Pham wants to improve his position but Hunter is controlling well.

Pham looking for subs from the bottom but Hunter mounts him! Hunter takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Pham tries to hold on but Hunter postures up.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Hunter stands up from the dominant position, so we're back on the feet. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Pham throws a body punch but Hunter moves out of range. Pham shoots in but no luck this time. Pham keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Hunter stuffs the takedown attempt from Pham. Pham gets slowly back to his feet. Hunter looks to land a combination but Pham avoids it well. Hunter throws a left and a right that both miss
and Pham makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range. Pham swings away with a leg kick that misses. Pham shoots in looking for a takedown. Hunter tries to sprawl out of it but Pham keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Hunter manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Thu Pham. That's going to take a lot out of him. Hunter takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness. Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Hunter. A combination from Hunter does no damage. Pham walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Hunter checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side. Hunter fails with a takedown attempt. A looping hook to the body misses from Hunter. Pham does a little dance to reset his feet.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Pham shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Hunter's guard. Pham scores with a decent looking elbow strike. Pham lands a couple of digs. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Pham missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Pham throwing strikes from guard but Hunter blocks nicely. Hunter trying to control the position.
Hunter keeping moving, preventing Pham from controlling successfully. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Pham advances to half guard. Pham lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Pham connects with a nice short shot to Hunter's temple. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Thu Pham dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Pham checks a low kick from Hunter. Pham throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Hunter's waist but Hunter gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Pham off to one side. Pham scores to the head and body with a nice combination!
Hunter is rocked! Hunter drops his hands momentarily and Pham takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head. Hunter is still on wobbly legs! Can Pham finish him? Hunter takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness. Hunter slaps away a takedown attempt from Pham, before circling back to the center of the mat. Pham throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Hunter was covering up waiting for the punch and Pham finishes the takedown easily into guard. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Pham's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Thu Pham overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Pham trying to control the position from guard on top but Hunter is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Hunter pushes Pham off and gets back to his feet.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Pham feints and as Hunter raises his hands in defense, Pham changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Pham keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Hunter's head. Pham throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Pham throwing strikes but missing. Hunter is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Pham trying to control but Hunter is working from the bottom.
That's one minute gone in the round. Pham postures up and lands a big shot to Hunter's brow. Hunter has momentary wrist control but Pham slips an elbow through the middle. Pham working some strikes from top position. Pham works over Hunter with some ground and pound from guard. Pham gets to his feet and stands over Hunter, holding his ankles. He dives in with a big left hand that connects! Hunter felt that one! Pham unloads more punches and elbows and this one is over! The ref has dived in to save Hunter from any more punishment!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:31 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Thu Pham! After winning the bout, Thu Pham thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
