PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Josh Berzins (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Harry Davies (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

With a record of 9 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Josh Berzins!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 5 - 0, fighting out of London, Harry Davies!
The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, Steven Brown and William Gold.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Berzins drives through with a takedown into Davies's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Davies trying to keep a closed guard but Berzins is proving a slippery customer.
Berzins has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Berzins stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Davies swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Berzins stays in close to Davies's body and controls the position.

Berzins drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Berzins jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Berzins thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Berzins regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Davies.
Davies throws a strike but Berzins rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Davies is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Berzins is aware though and is defending well.

That was a close round but I would say that Josh Berzins will probably get the nod.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Davies postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Berzins is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Davies, into his guard.

Davies looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Berzins has picked Davies up and slammed him! Davies can't keep hold of the triangle and Berzins manages to pass to side control!

Berzins wants to control for a moment but Davies uses the opportunity to move back to half guard.
