Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Dion Jacobson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bryan Alexander (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bryan Alexander will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Dion Jacobson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Bryan Alexander!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fray, Jeff Smith and Roger Salmon.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alexander pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Jacobson drives through and clinches with Alexander against the cage.
Jacobson tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Jacobson breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Alexander lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Alexander misses with a series of wild punches.
Alexander fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Alexander tries for a takedown but Jacobson circles away easily

and Jacobson counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Alexander wants to improve his position but Jacobson is controlling well.
Alexander is trying to control but can't.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Alexander kicks off Jacobson and gets to his feet.

Jacobson tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Alexander paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Jacobson shoots in and gets a takedown into Alexander's guard.
Alexander tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Jacobson looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Jacobson has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Jacobson wants to control from the top but Alexander keeps moving.

The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

We're going to have a standup here because Dion Jacobson wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Jacobson stuffs the takedown.
Jacobson looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Alexander keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Dion Jacobson. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Jacobson misses with a jab, cross combination.
Alexander scores with a sloppy right hand. Jacobson should have avoided that one.
Jacobson shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Alexander pinned against the cage. Alexander gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Alexander shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Jacobson defends it nicely.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Alexander is trying hard to land a takedown here. Jacobson sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Jacobson tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Alexander swivels and escapes.
Alexander uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Jacobson.

Alexander closes the distance and clinches.
Alexander tries to pull guard but Jacobson forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
Jacobson's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.
Jacobson fails to pull the fight into his guard.

Alexander breaks the clinch.
Alexander doesn't manage to clinch there - Jacobson circles away.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Jacobson is defended easily by Alexander.
Alexander throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Alexander shoots in looking for a takedown but Jacobson manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Alexander's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

and Jacobson counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Jacobson.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Alexander controls Jacobson momentarily but Jacobson frees himself.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Jacobson looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dion Jacobson dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!



Jacobson is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Alexander's half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Jacobson is trying to control. Alexander wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Jacobson is working for a kimura but Alexander is defending it quite comfortably.
Alexander trying to get back to full guard but Jacobson takes advantage of the position and moves to full mount!

Jacobson postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Alexander looks a forlorn figure.
Alexander is desperately trying to improve his position but Jacobson has a good base and remains in mount.
Alexander wants to hold on but Jacobson pushes him away.
Jacobson really is a fat lump.
Alexander is trying to reverse the position but instead Jacobson has taken his back - oops!
You can see the frustration on Alexander's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
Alexander is breathing heavily.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Alexander looking very determined here, making life difficult for Jacobson.

Alexander has his hands over his head blocking the strikes from Jacobson.
Alexander covering up well under a series of strikes from Jacobson.

Jacobson looking for the choke from the back.
Dion Jacobson overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Jacobson has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Alexander's body.
Alexander is defending well here and trying to improve his position.

Jacobson controls the action.
Alexander is really stuck here.
Jacobson is looking to control Alexander but Alexander is wriggling around and keeping busy.

Jacobson is working the back position looking for the choke. Oh, he's slid into an armbar! Beautiful transition and Alexander taps out! Fantastic Jiu Jitsu from Jacobson.
