Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
8 - 7 - 0, fighting out of New York, Sonny Boom! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
22 - 9 - 0, fighting out of New York, Cray Willams! The judges for this bout are Joseph Jones, Dean Styles and Chad Campbell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Willams jabbing away but nothing is landing. Willams shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Boom as he avoids it easily. Boom jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.
Boom moves into range and clinches up with Willams. A short uppercut from Boom. Willams is pushing Boom up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word. A knee to the head by Boom.
Boom breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Boom closes the distance and clinches. Willams blocking some punches.

A punch lands to the side of Willams 's head but he takes it in his stride. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Boom closes the distance and pushes Willams back into the cage. Boom is looking to break free of the clinch but Willams has double underhooks. Willams letting Boom take a breather here. Willams gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Boom regains guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. Willams has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Boom is proving hard to escape from. Boom wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now. Willams won't allow Boom to get back to his feet. Willams controls from within his opponent's guard.
We're going to have a standup here because Sonny Boom wasn't active enough for the referee's liking. Boom goes for a spinning back kick but it misses. Willams is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Boom's half guard. Willams throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Willams missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Willams tries to stand but can't do so whilst Boom controls his leg. Willams is thwarting Boom's attempts to control the position. Boom is looking to escape. Willams has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Boom wants to get back to full guard. Boom wants to control but Willams is keeping busy and won't allow it. Willams is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Willams escapes and gets back to his feet. Willams closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Boom to the mat! Boom manages to get full guard. Willams wants to control from the top but Boom keeps moving.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Boom looking to hit a scissor sweep but Willams is one step ahead there. Willams trying to control but Boom is working from the bottom. Boom pulls Willams in close to prevent any damage. Willams decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Boom, up you get! Boom stuffs the takedown. Boom instigates a clinch. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Boom's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not. Boom escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Willams misses with a takedown attempt - Boom sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Sonny Boom has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Cray Willams. Boom pushes Willams up against the cage in a clinch. Willams is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Boom is defending well for now. Boom breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Boom has managed to clinch.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! A right hand to the body from Boom.
Boom tries to stall but Willams uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
Boom lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Willams backwards. Boom tries a knee to the head but Willams blocks it.
Boom blocks a couple of punches on the inside.

Boom gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Willams pushes off an throws an elbow but Boom leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage. Boom misses with a knee to the head. Boom lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Willams or not. Willams lands a nice knee to the body. Boom tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Willams avoids it. Boom struggles to land a body shot inside as Willams controls his hands.
Boom pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Willams tries to keep at a distance but Boom has taken the fight into the clinch. Willams throws an elbow that misses.
Boom lands a hook to the side of the head. This has been an exciting period of action! Boom landing some nice looking knees to the body.

Boom stuffs the takedown. Boom closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Boom scores with a shot to the side of Willams's head.

Willams lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Boom circles away quickly and effectively. Willams gets in close and instigates a clinch. Boom managing to block the knees to the body from Willams.

Boom lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards. Boom breaks the clinch.
Willams takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?
A head kick misses from Boom. Boom clinches up against the cage. Boom wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Willams has him pressed against the cage.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Boom takes an elbow to the forehead. Boom wants to break free but Willams has control.

Boom throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Willams blocks it with crossed arms. Willams creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Boom misses with an elbow over the top. Boom looking to throw knees to the head but Willams is blocking nicely.

Willams throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Boom's waist but Boom gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Willams off to one side. Willams slips a jab and a cross from Boom.
Boom forces Willams back against the cage and clinches. Willams is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage. Boom doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Boom lands a right hand. Boom tries to land knees in the clinch but Willams avoids the damage to the body. Boom looking to throw knees to the head but Willams is blocking nicely.

Boom is trying to maintain a safe position but Willams gets an underhook and turns Boom into the cage. Boom blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning. Willams works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Willams misses with an elbow over the top. Boom misses with a short punch on the inside. Willams lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Willams uses his free foot to push down on Boom's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Boom. Willams misses with some ground and pound and Boom recovers position to half guard. Boom keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Willams is working for a kimura but Boom is defending it quite comfortably.
Willams not landing any meaningful shots this time. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Boom tries to kick Willams off but Willams keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Sonny Boom dominated that second round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Willams is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Boom holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now. Willams is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Willams gets to his feet - back to striking we go! Sonny Boom is winning the standup battle so far. A leg kick checked by Willams. Willams shoots in looking for a takedown but Boom manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Willams's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Boom throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Boom moves into the clinch. Willams throws a knee to the head but misses.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Boom connects with an inside leg kick. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Willams. Willams takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Boom closes the distance and clinches. Boom landing knees to the head.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Willams using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Boom has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.

He has hold of a leg but Boom is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Willams persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Boom looking for a sweep. Not yet Boom, not yet. Boom is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage. Willams with a flurry of punches that miss. Willams prevents Boom from getting back to his feet. Boom keeping moving, preventing Willams from controlling successfully. Boom wants to sweep but no luck. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up. Willams passes into half guard. Boom wants to get back to his feet.
Boom manages to escape and get back to his feet!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Boom throws a sloppy head kick and Willams moves out of range easily. Boom stuffs the takedown. Sonny Boom has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Cray Willams. Boom moves into range and clinches up with Willams. Boom looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now. Kneeeeees! The crowd are calling for knees to the body. Boom obliges. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Willams tries to land a knee to the head but Boom blocks with his arms.

And that's the end of the fight! Sonny Boom showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Boom, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
