Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Malcom Rodriguez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Mauno Koskinen!
The judges for this bout are Anni Minnemäki, Marco Blurström and Ben Zyskovitsi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Koskinen closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Rodriguez quickly recovers to half guard.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Koskinen wants to control but Rodriguez is keeping him busy.
The fighters are battling for position here. Rodriguez manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Rodriguez lands an upkick as Koskinen stands over him.

Rodriguez has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Koskinen can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Rodriguez is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Koskinen pulls his head out easily.
Koskinen is keen to just control but Rodriguez is a slippery customer.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Koskinen stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Rodriguez swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Rodriguez has his foot on Koskinen's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Koskinen works his way back into a safe position though.

Rodriguez had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Koskinen defends it easily.
Rodriguez wants to improve his position but instead Koskinen has moved into half guard.
Rodriguez wants to get back to full guard.

Rodriguez is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Koskinen's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Koskinen's back!
You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.
Rodriguez has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Koskinen is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Rodriguez gets his way!

Koskinen wants to get up but he can't break Rodriguez's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Rodriguez tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Koskinen wants to stand and escape but instead Rodriguez has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Rodriguez gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

Rodriguez shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Rodriguez was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Rodriguez decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Malcom Rodriguez is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Rodriguez looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Koskinen!
Rodriguez is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Koskinen will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.

Koskinen avoids the body shot from Rodriguez.

Rodriguez tries to keep at a distance but Koskinen has taken the fight into the clinch.

Malcom Rodriguez overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Rodriguez quickly switches to an armbar and extends the arm! Koskinen has no choice but to tap, to a very quick submission! Wow, that was lightning fast! Rodriguez celebrates on the cage, with the crowd.
