Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Austin Lambert (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Clod (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). John Clod has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Austin Lambert's chin.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Clod tries to sprawl but Lambert drives through with a takedown into half guard.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Lambert stalling.
Clod wants to control but Lambert is keeping busy.
Clod is trying to avoid being dragged into an even worse position than he's already in but Lambert is staying active.
Clod works his way to full guard. Good work.
Lambert is stalling in the full guard.
Clod really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Lambert. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Clod wants to stand up but Lambert is controlling him.

Clod is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Lambert is aware though and is defending well.

Clod wants to stand and escape but Lambert is having none of it.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Austin Lambert wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Clod throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Lambert's waist but Lambert gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Clod off to one side.
Clod avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Clod is trying hard to land a takedown here. Lambert sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Lambert closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Clod to the mat! Clod manages to get full guard.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Clod is looking to sweep but instead, Lambert has passed into half guard.
Lambert lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Lambert wants to stand up but Clod has a hold of him and won't allow it.
Clod wants to get back to full guard but Lambert has passed into side control.

Lambert's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Lambert shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Clod napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Lambert wants to stand but Clod is controlling his arm.
Lambert creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.

Lambert seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Clod for as long as he can get away with.

Clod might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Lambert haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Clod shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Lambert counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Clod's guard now.
Lambert controls from within his opponent's guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Lambert drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Clod manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Lambert has Clod in his guard.

Clod in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Lambert wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. John Clod wasn't active enough on the ground.

Lambert blocks a punch to the side of the head.

Clod has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Lambert uses from the top position.

Clod isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Lambert stacks Clod on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Lambert!

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

A lazy left from Clod finds it's target.
Clod throws a head kick but Lambert moves out of range.

Lambert rushes Clod and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Lambert has hold of one of Clod's legs. Clod is fighting the takedown attempt but Lambert gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.

Clod wants to control the position but Lambert says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.
Lambert winds up and cracks Clod with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

Lambert cracks Clod with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

Clod is desperately trying to improve his position but Lambert has a good base and remains in mount.
Clod takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Lambert slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.
