PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Hulk Hogan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gigant Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Hogan might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Real American. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Silva fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Hogan avoids it really well and circles away.
We've been told by Hogan's head coaches at Combat Sports Training Center that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Silva shoots in but no luck this time.

Hogan is refusing to be controlled, as Silva sits in half guard.

Silva stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.

and Hogan counters with a crisp one two that drops Silva! Hogan thinks about following him to the mat for a moment but instead steps back and waves Silva to his feet! Silva is in big trouble!

Silva thows a huge punch but Hogan dodges it nicely.

Hogan knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Silva on the ground.
Hogan is looking for a sweep. Silva is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Silva is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

That was a close round but I would say that Hulk Hogan will probably get the nod.

A telegraphed takedown attempt from Silva is defended easily by Hogan.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Silva shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Hogan sprawls well. Hogan wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Silva gets slowly back to his feet.
Silva shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Hogan pinned against the cage. Hogan gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Silva is trying to maintain a safe position but Hogan gets an underhook and turns Silva into the cage.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Silva tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Silva working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Hogan doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Hogan manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Silva is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Silva is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Hogan defends well.

Silva has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Hogan has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Gigant Silva showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!

A momentary lapse in concentration from Hogan enables Silva to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Hogan manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Silva might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Hogan haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

After the fight, Hulk Hogan was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
