Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Blake Elliet Junior Shnitkey ! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
16 - 9 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Driello Touredo! The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Robert Twigg and Frank Dennis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Junior Shnitkey throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Junior Shnitkey closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Touredo to the mat! Touredo manages to get full guard. The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace. Touredo utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Touredo can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Junior Shnitkey controls the pace. Junior Shnitkey working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Junior Shnitkey gets to his feet - Touredo follows without any prompting. Junior Shnitkey throws a looping overhand right but Touredo ducks down to avoid it. Junior Shnitkey displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination.
It looks like Driello Touredo has been cut. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Touredo lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw. Junior Shnitkey throws a lazy right hand but Touredo sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Junior Shnitkey misses with a double jab.
Driello Touredo seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Junior Shnitkey throws a series of punches but Touredo avoids them all with ease. The crowd cheers as Junior Shnitkey lands an impressive looking overhand right. Touredo doesn't seem phased though. Touredo slips under a jab. We've been hearing reports that Junior Shnitkey has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight. Touredo turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick. Touredo tries to close the distance and clinch but Junior Shnitkey swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
That's one minute gone in the round. Nice sprawl there from Junior Shnitkey as Touredo shoots in. Touredo lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Junior Shnitkey backs up against the cage.
Touredo changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Junior Shnitkey looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Touredo trying to control the position but Junior Shnitkey is working away. Touredo throws a strike aimed at the side of Junior Shnitkey 's head but Junior Shnitkey avoids it well. Touredo tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Touredo looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
That's two minutes gone in the round. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Junior Shnitkey regains half guard. Junior Shnitkey trying to control but Touredo postures up.
Touredo postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Junior Shnitkey to stand up. Touredo throws a nice head kick!
Junior Shnitkey takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Junior Shnitkey gets caught by a brutal right hook which buckles his knees! Junior Shnitkey tries to backpedal with his spaghettilegs but Touredo is headhunting and goes for the kill. A jab and a right hook connect and Junior Shnitkey buckles badly as his eyes roll back. The referee steps in and saves Junior Shnitkey !! Junior Shnitkey is complaining but he was clearly out on his feet. Touredo throws his mouthpiece into the crowd. Mmmm spit-tastic.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:48 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Driello Touredo!
