PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Michael Gleiser (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Iosif Kirill (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kirill has chosen Freur Frei as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 16 - 1, fighting out of London, Michael Gleiser!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Iosif Kirill!
The judges for this bout are , Frank Antenori and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gleiser keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

Kirill has managed to clinch.
Gleiser tries to break the clinch but Kirill is controlling the position.
Kirill lands a shot to the body.

Gleiser is fighting off a takedown attempt but Kirill is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Gleiser to the mat. Gleiser regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Gleiser manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kirill regains half guard.
Kirill is trying to control but can't.
Kirill is pressing down on Gleiser's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Gleiser has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Kirill pulls Gleiser in close to prevent any damage.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Gleiser trying to control the position from guard on top but Kirill is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Kirill is trying to control the position but Gleiser postures up.

Kirill working for a triangle but Gleiser defends it easily.
Gleiser wants to pass the guard but Kirill is keeping the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Kirill seems keen to control Gleiser's posture.
Kirill looking to control.
Kirill looking for a sweep. Not yet Kirill, not yet.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Kirill tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Gleiser manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Kirill shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Gleiser as he jumps to the side.
Kirill misses with a wild body shot.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Gleiser avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
The fight stays on the outside here - Kirill looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Kirill shoots in for a double leg but Gleiser sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Iosif Kirill seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Gleiser displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Kirill.
Michael Gleiser has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Iosif Kirill.

Kirill instigates a clinch.
Gleiser goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Gleiser tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Gleiser breaks the clinch.
Kirill tries to clinch there but Gleiser circles away.
Gleiser circles away from the clinch attempt

and Gleiser counters with a crisp right hand that drops Kirill! Gleiser lets Kirill back up to his feet, looking for a finish!


Kirill is rocked!


It looks like Iosif Kirill has been cut.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Kirill wants to clinch but Gleiser slips to the side
and Gleiser counters with a huge overhand right that connects right on the temple, sending him crumpling, face first to the floor! This one is all over! What a knockout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:41 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Michael Gleiser!
