Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Via Dios (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Stafford Shire (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Dios comes to the cage accompanied by Sandstorm. Via Dios could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Stafford Shire's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the bantamweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
7 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Via Dios! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Stafford Shire! The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Steve Smith and Elvis Blanc.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Shire moves in looking to clinch but Dios pushes him off. Shire throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Dios closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Dios lands in his opponent's guard. Dios thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Shire manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Shire unloads with some shots from mount but Dios bucks and avoids them well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Shire lands a heavy elbow. Dios is looking to improve his position but Shire isn't that keen on the idea. Shire with the ground and pound from mount. Dios really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Dios tries to reverse the position but Shire maintains control. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Dios is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Shire working for a submission but Dios is keeping him at bay. Dios is squirming around, avoiding Shire's attempts to control the action.
That's one minute gone in the round. Dios really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Dios wants to control but Shire is having none of it. Shire is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Dios is surviving well by controlling Shire's body position as best he can. Dios manages to regain half guard. Good work. The fighters are battling for position here. Dios manages to regain full guard. Nice work. Shire avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Shire is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Dios working for a triangle but Shire defends it easily.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Shire trying to control but Dios is working from the bottom. Shire stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Dios swivels though and keeps the full guard. Shire throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Dios works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Dios keeping moving, preventing Shire from controlling successfully. Dios keeping full guard, as Shire tries to pass. Dios looking for a guillotine here but Shire defends easily.
Shire wants to stand but Dios is controlling his posture from full guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Dios looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Shire trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Shire is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Shire looks gassed! Shire stopping the sweep attempt from Dios. Shire trying to control the position from guard on top but Dios is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Shire stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Dios swivels though and keeps the full guard. Shire sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Dios's guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Dios slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Dios is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Dios looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Shire wants to get up but he can't break Dios's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. Shire must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Dios working for a triangle but Shire defends it easily.
Dios can't keep his opponent in guard - Shire advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Dios is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Dios is not content to let Shire control the position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Via Dios dominated that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Dios throws a series of punches but Shire moves out of range. Shire is looking to score with low kicks. Shire tries to clinch but Dios is having none of it. Shire fails with an attempt to clinch.
Dios takes a swing at Shire's ribcage but misses. Shire has his takedown stuffed so Dios counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Dios drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Dios jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Shire trying to strike off his back.
Shire is looking to stand up but Dios isn't so interested in that idea. Dios wants to control from the top but Shire keeps moving. Dios stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Shire swivels though and keeps the full guard. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Dios is working hard here to advance position. Dios is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Shire is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Shire has escaped and now he's on top! Dios throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Shire's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Shire stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Dios swivels though and keeps the full guard. Dios working for a triangle but Shire defends it easily.
Shire works a leg free and moves into half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Shire lands with a punch from half guard. Shire takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists. Shire thows a huge punch but Dios dodges it nicely.
Shire is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount! Dios throwing hammer fists to the chest of Shire. What's that going to do exactly? Shire with the ground and pound from mount. Dios is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Shire looking to control and managing it successfully. Shire avoids the attempt from Dios to control. Dios bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done! Shire is trying to control the position but Dios postures up.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Dios wants to pass the guard but Shire is keeping the position. Dios drops back for a leg! The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Dios shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Shire pinned against the cage. Shire gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Shire tries to grapple but his opponent circles and Dios connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Shire takes one to the side of the head.
Shire moves in looking to clinch but Dios pushes him off. Shire throws a leg kick but Dios sees it coming and moves out of range. Shire is looking to clinch but Dios is avoiding it.
Shire looks to land a combination but Dios avoids it well. A punch combination from Shire misses. Dios lands a jab to the nose. Dios looks to score with a jab to the body but Shire is just out of range. Shire falls off balance throwing a combination
and Dios counters with a single leg into guard. Shire didn't expect that. Dios trying to control but Shire is working from the bottom. Shire tries to land a sweep but no joy. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Via Dios dominated that second round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Dios changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Shire looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Dios tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Dios has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Dios is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Shire is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Shire struggling a bit here. Shire is trying to get back to half guard. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Dios tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Dios has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Shire sneaks back into half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Dios is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Shire defends it well. Shire is trying to get back to full guard. Shire is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Dios's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Dios's back! I would not like to be Dios right now.
Via Dios overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Dios tries to escape but Shire has the hooks in and won't let him break free. Shire gets his hands free as Dios looks to control. Shire lands shots from the back. Shire is trying to stick to Dios's back but Dios is turning into Shire. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Shire's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Dios.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Dios prevents Shire from getting back to his feet. Shire is trying to control the position but Dios postures up. Shire is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Dios slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Dios is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Shire has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Dios to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Shire is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Dios pulls down on the head and he's put Shire to sleep! This one is all over!
