Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Larry Bird (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joe Carter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bird tries for a takedown but Carter sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Carter will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Bird shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Carter but Carter pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Carter decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Carter is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Carter is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Carter is controlling the pace.

Carter is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, Bird has managed to free his arm - good work.
Bird is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Carter is working for a kimura but Bird is defending it quite comfortably.

Carter is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Bird is just riding it out for now. Carter eventually gives up the hold.

Carter seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Bird does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Bird knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Carter on the ground.

Carter throws some shoulder strikes here and then postures up. Oh, he's gone for an armbar! Bird has his hands clasped together but Carter breaks the hold and Bird is forced to tap! This one is aaaaaaaaaaall over! That was lightning fast by Carter!
