Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between John Doeman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Xilo Schwaty (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). John Doeman has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, John Doeman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Xilo Schwaty!
The judges for this bout are Anthony Taglia, Jonathan Paton and David Schapiro.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Doeman lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Schwaty takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Schwaty throws a leg kick but Doeman sees it coming and checks it nicely.
Doeman throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Schwaty sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Nice body punch from Doeman.

Schwaty takes the fight into the clinch.

Schwaty manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Schwaty has a closed guard, preventing Doeman from standing up.
Doeman tries to free his leg and advance position but Schwaty is retaining full guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Schwaty can do anything to dispel that myth.

Schwaty had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Doeman defends it easily.

Schwaty manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Doeman is wriggling around trying to escape.
Doeman wants to control but Schwaty is having none of it.
Doeman is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control.

Doeman is working to get back to half guard.
Doeman is trying to reverse the position but instead Schwaty has taken his back - oops!
Doeman tries to escape but Schwaty has the hooks in and won't let him break free.
Doeman wants to escape the position but for the time being he's just trying to control the pace.
Schwaty keeps control of the position as Doeman tries to break free.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Doeman is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.
Schwaty wants to control the position but Doeman frees himself and scrambles - Schwaty manages to regain control in side control.
Schwaty wants to control but Doeman is keeping him busy.

Schwaty is trying to control the action in half guard but Doeman is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Doeman is looking to improve his position.
Doeman won't allow Schwaty to pass to mount.
Schwaty wants to stand but Doeman has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.
Schwaty seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Doeman does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Doeman wants to control but Schwaty is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Doeman keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that John Doeman will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Doeman lands an overhand right.
Doeman jabs Schwaty to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Doeman is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range.
Doeman fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.

Doeman fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Schwaty on the side of the head.
Schwaty closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Schwaty fails with a takedown attempt.
Schwaty tries to clinch but Doeman is having none of it.
Schwaty moves out of range as Doeman strikes.
Doeman looks to land a combination. Schwaty sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
Doeman feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Schwatys jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!

Schwaty doesn't manage to clinch there - Doeman circles away.
Nice sprawl there from Doeman as Schwaty shoots in.
John Doeman is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Doeman lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Schwaty at a distance.
Schwaty shoots in for a takedown but Doeman shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
John Doeman has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Xilo Schwaty.
Schwaty shoots in looking for a takedown but Doeman manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Schwaty's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Doeman is looking for a sweep. Schwaty is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Doeman manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Schwaty manages to get himself to full guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Doeman keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.

Doeman missing with a left hand there. Schwaty was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.

Schwaty gets a clinch.

Schwaty shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Xilo Schwaty is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Schwaty has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Doeman finds it's way round the side to connect with Schwaty's head.
Doeman keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Doeman gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Schwaty to score an easy takedown into full guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Schwaty looking to sit in guard and control but Doeman gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Doeman lands a lovely overhand right.
Schwaty with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Doeman to score with a decent uppercut.
Schwaty takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.

Schwaty shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Doeman is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Schwaty wants to control but Doeman is keeping him busy.

The fighters are battling for position here. Doeman manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Schwaty throwing strikes but missing.
Doeman trying to control the position.
Doeman is pulling down on Schwaty's head to control his posture.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Schwaty throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Doeman tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Schwaty is in Doeman's guard.

Schwaty stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Doeman swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Doeman avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Schwaty is stalling in the full guard.
Doeman bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Schwaty's guard.
Xilo Schwaty has got the better of the ground game so far.
Schwaty wants to sweep but no luck.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Doeman trying to control the position from guard on top but Schwaty is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Doeman throws a big elbow that misses.
Doeman trying to control but Schwaty is working from the bottom.
Schwaty being controlled here, momentarily.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of John Doeman.
Doeman throws a big shot that misses.
Schwaty takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Schwaty scores with a leg kick.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A punch lands to the side of Schwaty 's head but he takes it in his stride.
A jab lands there for Doeman.
Schwaty shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Doeman as he avoids it easily.
Doeman lunges at Schwaty with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Schwaty's hand.
Doeman works over Schwaty's head and body with a nice combination.
Schwaty tries to clinch up but Doeman circles away and keeps his distance.
A telegraphed right hand from Doeman misses the target.
Doeman is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all.
Schwaty shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Doeman sprawls well. Doeman wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Schwaty gets slowly back to his feet.
Schwaty has done a lot of speed work in the buildup to this fight.
Schwaty takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
A jab from Doeman finds it's way through Schwaty's defenses.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to John Doeman.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Doeman, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
