Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Danny Hendo!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Alan Glass and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hendo misses with a double jab.
Akbar tries to score a power double leg takedown but Hendo sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Akbar somewhat.
Akbar looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Akbar forces Hendo back against the cage and clinches.
Hendo throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Akbars head.
Akbar lands a nice shot to the body.

Hendo lands a takedown into guard.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Hendo missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Akbar keeping moving, preventing Hendo from controlling successfully.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Akbar wants to sweep here but Hendo controlling him for the moment.
Hendo trying to control the position from guard on top but Akbar is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Akbar has Hendo pulled in close to control his posture.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Danny Hendo was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Akbar shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Hendo but Hendo pushes him off and we're back to square one.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Hunter Akbar. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Hendo closes the distance and clinches.
Hendo lands a good knee to the midsection. Akbar won't want to take too many of those.
Akbar on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Akbar goes for a takedown in the clinch but Hendo prevents it.
Hendo tries to land a knee to the head but Akbar blocks with his arms.

Hendo is pressed up against the cage. Akbar has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Hendo down to the mat. Hendo avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Akbar darts in and clinches Hendo up against the cage.
Akbar drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Hendo gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Akbar drops down looking for an ankle pick but Hendo pulls his leg out and moves away.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Akbar misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Hendo keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Akbar fails with the takedown.

Hendo fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Akbar, pushing him back against the cage.

Hendo lands a glancing elbow in the clinch.
Akbar on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Hendo tries a knee to the head but Akbar blocks it.
Akbar wants to take the fight to the mat but Hendo manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
Hendo creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Akbar's defenses.

Hendo manages to break the clinch.
A punch lands to the side of Akbar 's head but he takes it in his stride.

Hendo has managed to clinch.
Hendo lands an uppercut.

Hendo gets a trip takedown into half guard.
Akbar wants to control but Hendo is keeping busy.
Akbar preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head.
Hendo not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Akbar gets full guard.
Hendo must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Akbar throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.
Hendo has been taking part in the yoga sessions down at *Nelson Fight Camp*. Presumably he's going to look for a slick submission... Or maybe he's looking to avoid one.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Akbar is trying to control the position but Hendo postures up.

Akbar has his foot on Hendo's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Hendo works his way back into a safe position though.

Akbar had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Hendo defends it easily.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Hendo is stalling in the full guard.

Akbar has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Hendo doesn't defend quickly enough and Akbar has managed to lock this one up! Can Hendo escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Akbar on a fantastic submission victory.

During a confident post fight interview, Hunter Akbar thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
