Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Reuben Tanner! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Cory Farmer! The judges for this bout are , Don Winkell and Jack Bonds.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Tanner rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Farmer moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Farmer leaves Tanner with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Tanner shoots in for a takedown but Farmer shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Tanner shoots for a double leg takedown but Farmer sprawls well. He's pushed Tanner's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Reuben Tanner. That's going to take a lot out of him. Farmer scores to the head and body with a nice combination!
It looks like Reuben Tanner has been cut. Farmer fails with an attempt to clinch.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Tanner is defended easily by Farmer. Tanner closes the distance and clinches up with Farmer, looking for a takedown. Tanner pushes Farmer against the cage but Farmer circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Farmer lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Tanner circles away quickly and effectively. Farmer shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Tanner is trying to defend but Farmer finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Tanner is refusing to be controlled, as Farmer sits in half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Farmer missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Farmer stalling. Let's hope that Farmer has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight. Farmer is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Tanner sees it coming and defends easily. Farmer tries to stand but can't do so whilst Tanner controls his leg.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Farmer not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Farmer slows the pace down in half guard. Tanner trying to control from the bottom.
Tanner is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Farmer thows a huge punch but Tanner dodges it nicely.
Tanner could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Tanner is staying active underneath Farmer, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Tanner holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.
That's three minutes gone in the round.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Farmer tries to clinch up and Tanner counters with a one-two to the body. Farmer jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.
Farmer misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Tanner fails with a takedown attempt. Farmer shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Tanner as he avoids it easily. Farmer closes the distance and clinches up with Tanner, looking for a takedown. Farmer pushes Tanner against the cage but Tanner circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Tanner shoots in looking for a takedown but Farmer manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Tanner's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Farmer dives in and grabs Tanner's left leg, looking for a takedown. Tanner pushes down on Farmer's head and hops out. Tanner tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Farmer defends well and Tanner ends up having to push Farmer into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch. Tanner is breathing heavily.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Farmer looking for a takedown. Farmer lands a nice uppercut. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Farmer wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Tanner has him pressed against the cage. Farmer escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Tanner moves into the clinch. Tanner is looking for a takedown. Tanner goes for a takedown attempt but Farmer pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Tanner will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Farmer shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Tanner sprawls well. Tanner wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Farmer gets slowly back to his feet. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Horrible takedown by Tanner or perhaps it was just good defense by Farmer which made him look bad. Farmer works the jab nicely. Farmer tries to clinch up. Farmer throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Farmer keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Farmer shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Tanner defends it nicely. Tanner shoots for a takedown but Farmer saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Reuben Tanner. That's going to take a lot out of him.
That's one minute gone in the round. Farmer fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Tanner, pushing him back against the cage. Tanner has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Farmer is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Tanner blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Tanner breaks the clinch.
Farmer tries to close the distance and clinch up but Tanner swats him away and circles back towards the center. Farmer shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Tanner defends it nicely. Farmer tries to score a power double leg takedown but Tanner sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Farmer somewhat. Tanner doesn't manage to clinch there - Farmer circles away.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Farmer bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Tanner is looking to regain half guard here but Farmer keeps moving and retains side control. Tanner gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard. Farmer is keen to just control but Tanner is a slippery customer. Farmer is working for a submission of some sort.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Farmer missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Tanner is not content to let Farmer control the position. Farmer is nestled in close to Tanner, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. Farmer is looking to advance position but Tanner won't allow it. Farmer is thwarting Tanner's attempts to control the position. Farmer trying to pass the guard but Tanner defending well.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Farmer is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
Farmer working the head and body with strikes. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Tanner won't allow Farmer to pass to mount. Farmer trying to control from half guard but Tanner is working away. Tanner is trying to get back to full guard. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Farmer wants to lay and pray for a moment but Tanner keeps working. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Cory Farmer showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The cut man is working on Reuben Tanner's cut. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!
Farmer shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Tanner manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. Tanner is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Tanner prevents Farmer from improving his position. Tanner trying to control from half guard but Farmer is working away. Tanner stops Farmer from getting back to his feet.
That's one minute gone in the round. Farmer trying to control here but he's found himself mounted! Oh no!

Tanner with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
Tanner throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Farmer because Tanner loaded up on that one. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Farmer keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Tanner throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Tanner throwing strikes here but Farmer is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.
Farmer tries to lock up and control but Tanner gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Farmer tries to control the position but Tanner now has his back.
Farmer wants to control his opponent's hands but Tanner gets his hands free. Tanner has his opponent's back and is working for the choke. Farmer looking to stop the rear naked choke attempt by controlling the hands. Farmer is trying to shake Tanner off. He's managed it and has hopped back to his feet! Tanner won't be happy about giving up the dominant position. Farmer takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Farmer throws a sloppy head kick and Tanner moves out of range easily. Farmer shoots in for a takedown but Tanner shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Tanner throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Tanner is defended easily by Farmer. Farmer fails with an attempt to clinch.
Tanner wants to clinch. Tanner ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Farmer moves away.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Tanner shoots in but Farmer avoids the takedown attempt easily. Farmer tries for a takedown but Tanner sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Farmer avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Farmer shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Farmer postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Tanner to stand up. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Tanner keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Reuben Tanner has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Cory Farmer is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight. Reuben Tanner has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Cory Farmer. Farmer tries to clinch up and Tanner counters with a flying knee. Nice.
And that's the end of the fight! I would just about give that final round to Cory Farmer. Well Farmer has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
