Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 8 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Christopher Sexton! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Mike Kozlov! The judges for this bout are Aleksandr Martynov, Fedor Mirinova and Dmitry Maklakov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kozlov shoots in but Sexton avoids the takedown attempt easily. Kozlov clinches with his opponent.
Kozlov has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Sexton after a bit of a struggle. Kozlov stalls. Sexton could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Kozlov's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Sexton stuffs the takedown. Christopher Sexton has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mike Kozlov. Kozlov moves into the clinch. A frustrated look appears on Sexton's face as he tries to break the clinch. Kozlov breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Kozlov shoots in looking for a takedown. Sexton tries to sprawl out of it but Kozlov keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Sexton manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kozlov throws a shot from downtown. Sexton moves away and avoids it. Sexton throws a head kick but Kozlov moves out of range.
Kozlov defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Sexton. Kozlov is trying hard to land a takedown here. Sexton sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Sexton shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Kozlov pinned against the cage. Kozlov gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Nice takedown defense from Kozlov. No joy for Sexton on that attempt. Kozlov goes for a double leg but Sexton avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Sexton continues to drive forward. Kozlov is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though. Kozlov breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

That's two minutes gone in the round. A low kick from Sexton is predictable there and Kozlov makes the exchange count by landing a cracking kick to the body. Sexton really felt that one! Kozlov changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Sexton tries to avoid it but Kozlov manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Sexton to the ground. Sexton escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Kozlov looks winded! Sexton closes the distance and clinches. Kozlov tries to stall but Sexton uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
Sexton wants to break free but Kozlov has control.
Sexton has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate. Sexton has Kozlov pushed against the cage. Sexton has Kozlov pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Kozlov manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing. Kozlov has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Sexton after a bit of a struggle. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Kozlov jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Sexton walks away with a smile on his face. Kozlov gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. Kozlov is looking to clinch but Sexton is avoiding it.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Kozlov looks for a takedown but Sexton sprawls well. Sexton keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Kozlov misses with a takedown attempt - Sexton sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Horrible takedown by Sexton or perhaps it was just good defense by Kozlov which made him look bad. Sexton lands a two punch combo.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Kozlov wants a takedown.

Kozlov is trying to break the clinch but Sexton is controlling him. Kozlov on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Sexton has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Kozlov is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Kozlov gets underhooks to prevent Sexton's takedown attempt.
Kozlov takes a shot to the head. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Christopher Sexton dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Kozlov tries to close the distance and clinch but Sexton swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Nice sprawl there from Kozlov as Sexton shoots in. Kozlov misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Kozlov is breathing heavily. Sexton misses with a head kick.
Sexton throws a combination. Kozlov tries to block but a couple of punches get through. Sexton throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Kozlov stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Sexton fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Kozlov blocks the body kick.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Kozlov pushes Sexton up against the cage in a clinch. Kozlov jumps guard but Sexton stands there with Kozlov around his waist. Kozlov gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup. Sexton pulls Kozlov in close to prevent any damage. Sexton is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Sexton has a closed guard, preventing Kozlov from standing up. Kozlov looking to sit in guard and control but Sexton gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Kozlov tries to land a sweep but no joy. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Kozlov keeping full guard, as Sexton tries to pass. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Kozlov is working an open guard so Sexton takes the opportunity to get back to his feet. The fight moves into the clinch position. Kozlov escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Sexton shoots in for a double leg but Kozlov sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Sexton displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Kozlov. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sexton stalks Kozlov and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Kozlov's face. Kozlov staggers backwards, shaken. Kozlov scoring well with a low kick there.
Sexton tries to clinch and Kozlov moves into the clinch. Some stalling of biblical proportions here from Kozlov. Sexton wants to break the clinch but can't.

Sexton shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Kozlov but Kozlov pushes him off and we're back to square one. Kozlov throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Mike Kozlov has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Christopher Sexton is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Kozlov swings away with a body shot that misses
and Sexton counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Christopher Sexton. Well Sexton has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win...
