PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jon Aguirre (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Valeriy Grushevky (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Grushevky has a pretty significant injury - he really shouldn't be fighting right now but he's a warrior and he's here none the less! Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Valeriy Grushevky!
The judges for this bout are Konstantin Menshow, Fedor Mirinova and Aleksei Zolotukhin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A bone on bone clash there as Grushevky blocks the leg kick.
Grushevky looks winded!
Aguirre misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Aguirre shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Grushevky as he jumps to the side.

Aguirre drives through with a takedown into Grushevky's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

Grushevky tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Aguirre has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

Grushevky should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Aguirre has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Grushevky uses from the top position.

A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Grushevky.
Grushevky takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.


It looks like Valeriy Grushevky has been cut.

Aguirre rushes Grushevky and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Aguirre's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Aguirre fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Grushevky to the ground. Aguirre is now in Grushevky's guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Grushevky has guillotine here! It looks pretty tight! Could this be all over! No, Aguirre escapes and passes into side control at the same time. Nice work there by Aguirre!

Aguirre seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Grushevky for as long as he can get away with.
