Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Mary Barron! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Bobby Hughes! The judges for this bout are Shigeki Fujiwara, Sosuke Kotani and Shirou Masuda.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hughes closes the distance looking to clinch and Barron counters by moving into the clinch. Hughes dictating the pace here, as the fighters clinch against the cage. Barron looking for a takedown. Hughes tries to pull guard but Barron holds him up against the cage and eventually Hughes drops back down to his feet.
The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows. Hughes is defending well against a takedown attempt. Barron breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Barron gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Hughes is fighting to break Barron's control of his arms but Barron is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
That's one minute gone in the round. Barron wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Hughes is now in half guard. Hughes is keen to just control but Barron is a slippery customer. Hughes decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up. Hughes falls off balance throwing a combination
and Barron counters with a head kick. That will keep Hughes thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks! Hughes looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Hughes tries to close the distance and clinch up but Barron swats him away and circles back towards the center. Hughes shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Barron but Barron pushes him off and we're back to square one. Mary Barron has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Bobby Hughes.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Barron shoots in looking for a takedown. Hughes tries to sprawl out of it but Barron keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Hughes manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Barron rushes Hughes and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Hughes stalling the fight.
Barron really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Barron utilising his Muay Thai to score with a knee to the body. Hughes successfully pulls guard.
Barron decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Hughes, up you get! The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Hughes shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Barron's guard. Hughes is pushing down on Barron's leg trying to pass to half guard. Barron is fighting to maintain full guard but Hughes has managed to sneak the leg through.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Hughes wants to free his trapped foot but Barron is holding on for dear life with his legs. Hughes looks winded! Hughes is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Barron doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Hughes. Barron is concentrating on defense, preventing Hughes from advancing position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Hughes is trying to control the action in half guard but Barron is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Barron is doing well to control the position and prevent Hughes from advancing to side control.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Hughes is nestled in close to Barron, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. Barron trying to hold on to Hughes's head to control him but Hughes postures up.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Mary Barron. Hughes tries to clinch and Barron counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Hughes is lucky that one didn't land flush. Hughes dives in and grabs Barron's left leg, looking for a takedown. Barron pushes down on Hughes's head and hops out. Hughes throws a head kick that misses. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Jab by Barron. The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky. Hughes shoots for a double leg takedown but Barron sprawls well. He's pushed Hughes's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Barron looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Bobby Hughes dominated that round. That's time! Barron's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Barron shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Hughes as he jumps to the side. Hughes throws a leg kick and Barron counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Barron. Barron has hold of one of Hughes's legs. Hughes is fighting the takedown attempt but Barron gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard. Hughes is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Barron defends well. Hughes is controlling Barron's posture. Hughes working a defensive guard but Barron passes into half guard.

That's one minute gone in the round. Hughes is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Barron's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Barron's back! Will Hughes go for the finish here or will he try and keep control of the position?
Barron wants to escape the position.
Hughes is looking cool and calm here, just waiting for a good opportunity to attack and finish the fight from this dominant position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Hughes is breathing heavily. Hughes lands with a couple of good shots - one to the side of the head and one questionable shot that could be viewed as to the back of the head but the referee lets it go.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Hughes is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Barron defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined. Barron looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment. Hughes wants to control but Barron is keeping busy. Hughes is trying to control but Barron is trying to escape here - he's now mounted.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Barron tries to hold on but Hughes postures up. Barron is looking to improve his position but Hughes isn't that keen on the idea. Barron wants to get back to his feet.
Barron is flailing around like a fish out of water, trying to land strikes. Barron wants to hold on but Hughes pushes him away. Barron tries to get back to half guard but can't. Barron tries to hold on but Hughes postures up.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Hughes looking to control but Barron is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Barron is working to get back to half guard.
Hughes lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Barron can't escape the position.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Barron is squirming around, avoiding Hughes's attempts to control the action. Hughes with good strikes from the mount here! And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Bobby Hughes showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!
Barron stuffs the takedown. Hughes has a takedown stuffed. Hughes punishes Barron's body with a nice straight punch. Hughes shoots in but no luck this time. Mary Barron has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Bobby Hughes. Hughes closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Barron quickly recovers to half guard. Hughes is trying to control. Barron wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Hughes might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Barron haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time. Hughes tries to stand but can't do so whilst Barron controls his leg. Barron manages to escape and get back to his feet! Hughes takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Barron tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Hughes defends well and Barron ends up having to push Hughes into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Barron fails to land the takedown. Hughes fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Barron sprawls well initially but Hughes persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Barron is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Hughes's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Hughes's back! Barron punches the canvas rather than the man. Even with his hooks in, Barron manages to miss with strikes from the back. Hughes controlling the position well but he knows he's in a bad position. Hughes is in bad spot here.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Barron not allowing Hughes to control his hands. Hughes is trying to avoid being dragged into an even worse position than he's already in but Barron is staying active. Hughes is defending well here and trying to improve his position.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Barron gets his hands free as Hughes looks to control. I would not like to be Hughes right now.

You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.
