Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Tomi Pozsar! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Alexander Engelbreckt! The judges for this bout are Aafke Stam, Nard Betker and Saam Ante.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Pozsar tries to land a leg kick but Engelbreckt saw it coming and moves away.
Nice takedown defense from Pozsar. No joy for Engelbreckt on that attempt. Engelbreckt tries to close the distance and clinch but Pozsar swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Pozsar scores with a one two! Engelbreckt had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes. The fight stays on the outside here - Engelbreckt looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Engelbreckt shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Alexander Engelbreckt seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Engelbreckt shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Pozsar as he jumps to the side. Tomi Pozsar has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Alexander Engelbreckt. Engelbreckt shoots in looking for a takedown. Pozsar tries to sprawl out of it but Engelbreckt keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Pozsar manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Pozsar throws a hook but Engelbreckt avoids it easily. Pozsar looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Engelbreckt closes the distance and clinches.
That's one minute gone in the round. Engelbreckt pulls guard effortlessly. Pozsar trying to stand up but can't free himself from Engelbreckt's guard. Engelbreckt pulls Pozsar in close to his closed guard and prevents Pozsar from doing any damage or advancing position. Pozsar has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Engelbreckt is proving hard to escape from. Pozsar trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful. Pozsar stopping the sweep attempt from Engelbreckt. Pozsar is looking to stand up but Engelbreckt won't let him.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Engelbreckt dives in and grabs Pozsar's left leg, looking for a takedown. Pozsar pushes down on Engelbreckt's head and hops out. Engelbreckt walks into a left hand. Engelbreckt lands an overhand right. Engelbreckt tries to clinch there but Pozsar circles away.
Engelbreckt looks for a takedown but Pozsar sprawls well. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Pozsar moves into the clinch. Engelbreckt tries to pull guard but Pozsar forces him back to his feet, against the cage. Engelbreckt's coach down at Soul Supremacy Fight Club - ELITE TRAINERS----$580 was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Engelbreckt's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight. Engelbreckt is trying to push Pozsar away but Pozsar has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere. Engelbreckt's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. A chopping leg kick lands by Pozsar. Pozsar lands a right hook to the body.
Engelbreckt looks winded!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Pozsar feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Engelbreckt sprawling to the canvas! Engelbreckt rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Pozsar finish him?!
It looks like Alexander Engelbreckt has been cut. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Engelbreckt tries to clinch but Pozsar is having none of it. Engelbreckt shoots for a double leg takedown but Pozsar sprawls well. He's pushed Engelbreckt's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. and Pozsar counters with a massive uppercut that badly hurts Engelbreckt! He's just covering up as Pozsar starts to tee off till the referee steps in and stops the fight!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:22 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Tomi Pozsar! An out of breath Tomi Pozsar thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
