Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jeffrey Goca!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jack Harris!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Gwen Towbar and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Harris shoots in and gets a takedown into Goca's guard.
Goca throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.

Harris drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Harris jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Goca might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Goca wants to hit a switch here but Harris passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Goca there!
Goca is trying desperately to improve position.
Harris looking to control and managing it successfully.
Harris is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Harris is in the full mount, landing strikes.

Goca is in all sorts of trouble here.
Goca bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Harris can do anything to dispel that myth.

Harris is refusing to be controlled, as Goca sits in half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Jeffrey Goca wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Goca tries to clinch there but Harris circles away.
Goca throws a front kick aimed at Harris's knee but Harris avoids it well.

Harris clinches up with Goca and pushes him back against the cage.

Harris's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Goca misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Harris manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Goca on his heels. He'll look to pass Goca's guard now, I'm sure.
Harris works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Still in half guard, Harris seems content to control.
Goca is looking to escape.
Goca is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Goca is breathing heavily.

Goca is trying to stand.
Harris uses his free foot to push down on Goca's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Goca.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Goca keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Goca tries to clinch but Harris moves out of range.

Harris changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.

Harris's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Harris turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
Harris is looking to take a break and control but Goca is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Harris wants to stand but Goca has him controlled and pulls him back into his guard.

Harris content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.

Goca is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Harris is working Goca over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Harris seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Goca is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Harris not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Harris tries to free his leg and advance position but Goca is retaining full guard.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Jack Harris wasn't active enough on the ground.

Harris shoots in and gets a takedown into Goca's guard.

Goca is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Harris is aware though and is defending well.

Harris controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

Goca can't keep his opponent in guard - Harris advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Harris tries to pass the half guard into mount. Goca knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Harris moves into full mount! Goca won't be happy about that!

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Harris is on top in guard.

Harris is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Harris drops back looking for a leg! Goca is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Goca manages to kick Harris off! Harris jumps back into Goca's guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jack Harris showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Back to the action! Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!

Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Well, if Harris is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Harris is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Jack Harris hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Goca shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Harris sprawls well. Harris wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Goca gets slowly back to his feet.

Harris takes the fight into the clinch.

Harris successfully pulls guard.
Harris has his hands on Goca's head, controlling the position.

Harris working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Goca doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Goca manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Harris is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Harris would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Jack Harris is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Harris must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Well Harris has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
