Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Dirt McGirk (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ac Res (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). McGirk comes into the arena with This Is Who I Am blaring out of the sound system. The key to victory for Dirt McGirk has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
17 - 20 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Dirt McGirk! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
8 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Ac Res! The judges for this bout are Josh West, Paul Gruel and Jeff Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! McGirk misses with a body shot.
McGirk lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
McGirk misses with a jab, cross combination.
McGirk has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Hilo Training Center in the buildup to the fight. McGirk clobbers Res with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise. McGirk throws a hook to the side of Res's head but Res sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. McGirk throws a lazy right hand but Res sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. McGirk throws a good cross that connects.
McGirk throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
Res shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says McGirk as he avoids it easily. Res ducks under a wild hook from McGirk. Res uses good head movement to avoid the hook from McGirk. Res slips a jab and a cross from McGirk.
McGirk stuffs the takedown attempt from Res. Res gets slowly back to his feet. McGirk lands with a nice body punch.
That's one minute gone in the round. Res will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Dirt McGirk has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ac Res. Res closes this distance looking for a takedown but McGirk circles away. Res dodges the punch combination from McGirk.

Res defending well as McGirk loads up on a big left hand. Res shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts McGirk as he jumps to the side. McGirk scores with a nice strike. Donk. McGirk catches Res right on the button with a cross. Res moves out of range as McGirk strikes. Horrible takedown by Res or perhaps it was just good defense by McGirk which made him look bad. Dirt McGirk seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. McGirk moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Res fails with a takedown attempt. McGirk throws a wild combination but nothing lands. McGirk misses with an uppercut. Res saw that one coming. McGirk fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Res shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace. Res is looking for submissions but instead, McGirk has regained full guard.
Res postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! McGirk is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Res, into his guard. McGirk has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Res looking for a guillotine here but McGirk defends easily.
McGirk stands up from guard. Let's bang! McGirk tests Res's chin there with a solid looking shot. McGirk throws a looping overhand right but Res ducks down to avoid it. McGirk misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
McGirk throws a hook but Res avoids it easily. McGirk misses the shot to the body.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Res blocks a jab. McGirk swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
McGirk throws a shot from downtown. Res moves away and avoids it. McGirk tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. McGirk scores with a hook. McGirk throws a poor cross that misses
and Res counters by clinching up. McGirk has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate. McGirk is trying to break the clinch but Res has him pressed against the cage. Res has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by McGirk after a bit of a struggle. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Res breaks the clinch.
McGirk thows a left - swing and a miss! As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Res looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? McGirk is fending him off so far but Res persists. Nope, McGirk circles away and we're back to standing. McGirk is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Res. Res shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Res showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from McGirk.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Dirt McGirk dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Res takes a shot to the body in his stride.
McGirk thows a left - swing and a miss! Res goes for a double leg but McGirk avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as McGirk continues to drive forward. McGirk wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Res keeps control of McGirk as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks. Res decides to pull guard. Res has a closed guard, preventing McGirk from standing up. Res is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Res is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Res working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. McGirk doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. McGirk manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
That's one minute gone in the round. McGirk wants to stand but Res is controlling his posture from full guard. Res is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and McGirk defends well. Res working for a triangle but McGirk defends it easily.

McGirk tries to stand but Res is controlling from the bottom. Res is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Res is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. McGirk is aware though and is defending well.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Res has his foot on McGirk's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. McGirk works his way back into a safe position though. McGirk tries to stand but Res is controlling from the bottom. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Res looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
McGirk is sitting in close to Res's body. Res has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! McGirk is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, McGirk is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Res.
