Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
11 - 6 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Nikolai Kolpakov! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Bill Hicks! The judges for this bout are Aleksandr Martynov, Dmitry Maklakov and Illya Tyunina.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hicks throws a wild body kick that Kolpakov sees coming a mile off. Kolpakov lands a nice shot to the body.
Kolpakov scores with a jab to the head.
Hicks throws a sloppy head kick and Kolpakov counters with a head kick. A decent looking cross lands there for Kolpakov. Hicks is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Kolpakov listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut. Hicks walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Hicks is rocked! Hicks throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land. Hicks misses with a hook. Kolpakov ducked under it nicely. Hicks pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Hicks shoots for a double leg takedown but Kolpakov sprawls well. He's pushed Hicks's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Kolpakov catches Hicks with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong! Kolpakov scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard. Kolpakov displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Hicks. Hicks avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Kolpakov connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt. Hicks misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Kolpakov.
Kolpakov connects with a body shot that sends Hicks's belly button to the back. Hicks shoots in for a takedown but Kolpakov shows good takedown defense. Nikolai Kolpakov has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Bill Hicks. Kolpakov moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot. Hicks tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Kolpakov digs a good body shot into Hicks's ribs. Hicks avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Hicks has tried to improve his agility in the runup to this fight. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Good standup being displayed there by Kolpakov as he connects with a hook. Kolpakov cracks Hicks with a big right hand that sends him to the floor! Hicks looks wobbly but he's sprung back up to his feet straight away… can Kolpakov finish him?
Hicks is still on wobbly legs! Can Kolpakov finish him? Hicks shoots in for a takedown and gets it. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace. Kolpakov is looking to control Hicks's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Kolpakov avoid being mounted? Hicks seems to have recovered his senses.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Hicks is trying to control. Kolpakov wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Kolpakov blocking the ground and pound attempt from Hicks. Hicks prevents Kolpakov from standing back up.
Kolpakov is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Hicks scores with a couple of nice shots. Hicks trying to control the action but Kolpakov is working from the bottom. Hicks thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Kolpakov's head.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Hicks thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Hicks throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Kolpakov is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Hicks scores with a couple of nice shots. Hicks is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen. Hicks missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Hicks is taking a breather. Kolpakov says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Kolpakov tries to get to full guard but Hicks has control of the leg. Hicks is controlling the pace.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Bill Hicks was stalling too much, according to the referee. Hicks tries a head kick but it misses.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Hicks takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming. Kolpakov scores with a hook. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! A decent looking cross lands there for Kolpakov. Hicks shoots in looking for a takedown. Kolpakov tries to sprawl out of it but Hicks keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Kolpakov manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Nikolai Kolpakov dominated that round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Kolpakov uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Hicks has time to react. Nikolai Kolpakov is winning the standup battle so far. Hicks walks into a stiff left hand from Kolpakov. Hicks waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Kolpakov. Kolpakov throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Hicks on the side of the head. Kolpakov lands a nice looking body shot.

Hicks shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down. Kolpakov cracks Hicks with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business. Nikolai Kolpakov seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Kolpakov checks a low kick from Hicks. Hicks walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head. This has been an exciting period of action! Hicks on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kolpakov throws out a powerful jab. Hicks drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Kolpakov is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Hicks is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Kolpakov is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Hicks creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Kolpakov sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike. Hicks has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. A lull in the action here as Hicks stalls from top position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Hicks working the ground and pound. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Hicks trying to control the action but Kolpakov is working from the bottom. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Hicks throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage. Kolpakov tries to get back to half guard but can't. Hicks postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Hicks in side control lands a decent elbow. Hicks cracks Kolpakov with a big elbow. Hicks is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Kolpakov is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Kolpakov is pushing Hicks's head away, looking to escape. Hicks manages to hold on to the position though. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Hicks lands a few punches from side control. Hicks throwing strikes but missing, from side control. Hicks connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Kolpakov some visible discomfort.

Hicks working the head with strikes. Kolpakov dodges the ground and pound from Hicks. Kolpakov takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.

Kolpakov is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all. Kolpakov tests Hicks's chin there with a solid looking shot. Kolpakov works the jab nicely. Kolpakov cracks Hicks with an open hand slap.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hicks takes a swing at Kolpakov's ribcage but misses. Hicks throws a head kick that misses. Kolpakov lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise. Kolpakov lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent. Kolpakov works the jab nicely. Nikolai Kolpakov is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Kolpakov cracks a nice hook into Hicks's ribs. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Hicks. Hicks takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Jab from Kolpakov. Decent striking displayed by Kolpakov there. Kolpakov is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Hicks misses with a kick to the body.

Our sources have told us that Kolpakov has been working on his elbows in the gym. Kolpakov escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Kolpakov is working to avoid the ground and pound but Hicks connects with a decent elbow. Hicks lands a few punches from side control.
And that's the end of the fight! I would just about give that final round to Bill Hicks. I think Hicks has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
