Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Winston Churchall! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Nelson Eddy! The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Steve Smith and Gregory Folan.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Churchall avoids a low kick by using good footwork. Churchall tries to score a power double leg takedown but Eddy sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Churchall somewhat. Eddy misses with a series of wild punches.
Winston Churchall seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Eddy lands a nice leg kick that just misses Churchall's sensitive parts. Churchall slips a jab from Eddy. Churchall gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Eddy counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Winston Churchall. That's going to take a lot out of him. Eddy closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Churchall to the mat! Churchall manages to get full guard. Churchall seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Eddy engaging in some classic timewasting tactics. Eddy trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Eddy won't allow Churchall to sweep him here. Churchall is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Eddy is aware though and is defending well.
That's one minute gone in the round. Eddy seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Eddy in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Eddy is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Churchall has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Eddy is looking to defend but Churchall has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Eddy! Churchall pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Eddy taps out and this one is all over!
