Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Mint Choco (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hideo Kono (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Mint Choco!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Hideo Kono!
The judges for this bout are , Timothy Bukovac and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kono uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Choco.
Kono throws a body punch but Choco moves out of range.
Kono just misses with a punch to the body.
Kono checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.
Choco throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Kono stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Choco.

Choco throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Kono was covering up waiting for the punch and Choco finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Kono pulls Choco in close to prevent any damage.
Choco advances position into side control!

Choco tries for a kimura but Kono is defending well.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Choco thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Kono can't do much from the bottom here.
Choco scores with a couple of short elbows.
Kono manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Choco trying to control from half guard but Kono is working away.
Kono controlling the position well.
Kono is trying to control but can't.
Kono preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head.
Kono makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Kono.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Kono keeping moving, preventing Choco from controlling successfully.
Kono is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Choco is controlling him.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Choco closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Choco throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Danga de danga de dang - Choco scores with a four punch combination!
Mint Choco seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Choco will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Choco fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Kono has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Choco with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Kono misses with a left hand
and Choco counters with a solid body kick.
Choco scores with a jab to the head.
A bone on bone clash there as Kono blocks the leg kick.
Kono uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Choco has time to react.
Kono lands a nice hook to Choco's body. Choco takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Hideo Kono is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Kono tries to sprawl but Choco drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Kono is trying to stand up here but Choco is controlling him well.
Choco throwing shots but Kono is blocking nicely.

Choco is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Kono blocking the ground and pound attempt from Choco.
Kono is looking to improve his position.
Choco has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Kono moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Kono wants to stand and escape but Choco is having none of it.
Choco wants to control from the top but Kono keeps moving.
Kono wants to stand up but Choco is controlling him.
Choco throwing strikes but missing.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Kono pulls Choco in close to his closed guard and prevents Choco from doing any damage or advancing position.
Choco preventing the sweep.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Mint Choco will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Choco buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Kono walks into a stiff left hand from Choco.
Kono will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Kono blocks a low kick nicely.
Choco shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Kono sprawls well. Kono wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Choco gets slowly back to his feet.
Choco uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Kono.
Choco shoots in for a double leg but Kono sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
A clash of legs there as Kono blocks the low kick.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Kono checks a leg kick nicely.
Choco throws a head kick but Kono moves out of range.
Choco shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Kono as he jumps to the side.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mint Choco. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Choco doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Kono pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Choco takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Choco moves out of range as Kono strikes.
Kono lands an overhand right.


Choco is rocked!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Kono misses the jab.
Choco swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Kono counters with a huge left! Choco is in big trouble! He's backing up but Kono isn't giving him chance to recover. Under a barage of punches the ref has to step in to save Choco from any more damage. A dominating finish by Kono!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:08 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Hideo Kono!
An out of breath Hideo Kono thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
